Jack drags Robby along to a paintball place because he's bored and a bit of (very much) an adrenaline junkie. And Robby is pretty concerned about it triggering PTSD and shit and is like, isn't your therapist concerned about this? Not that Robby wants to be relying on someone else to know if Jack should do something, way too used to being that person to Jack. And Jackjust brushes it off and says they've both got their vices and he's working through his shit one day at a time. He'll get around to paintball related trauma next session. But today they're both going to have fun and spray some people with paint. Robby is very much not looking forward to this, the therapy card was the last resort or get out of it. But he couldn't.

And now he's being herded along by an eager Jack Abbott who's got some sort of fancy paintball gear which Robby didn't even know he had even though they've been together for years. Whatever, Jack could have kept this secret forever if it meant Robby would never have to do something awful like paintball. He doesn't get it. Maybe twenty years ago, he'd be up for it. But now he's exhausted and got way too many aches in his joints and seen way too many injuries related to these sorts of things.

Robby's idea of a good day off with Jack would be a hike, far away from everybody and everything, with a nice view, some beers and sandwiches maybe at a lookout point. But no. Jack decided. And he gets all mopey and sad and has this look about him like a distraught puppy whenever he refuses something Jack really wants to do something with him.

The paintball place is a good thirty minute drive out if the city, and Robby is not pouting (he is) about this whole situation while sitting in the passenger seat of Jack's truck. The only upside is that Jack looks fucking hot dressed up in his gear. Jack's T-shirt is so tight on his arms Robby's nearly drooling. Jack is too smug about that fact flexing for no reason besides to make Robby's gaze grow heavier on him.

When they reach the paintball place, some course set up on a bare lot near a scraggly patch of woods, Jack is grinning like the cat that got the canary. He hops out of the truck and grabs his gear with a cocky smirk. Robby trudges after him already thinking about how sore he's going to be tomorrow. At least he and Jack have the day off tomorrow too.
