I have spent now 14 years with this group. It feels, unreal? Yeah, that’s how it feels like. In 2005 when Super Junior debuted I had just turned 11 the day before. I was just a little girl, I grew up with them. And this is me trying to put everything into words even though it will never be enough. I know I’m not making any sense but neither does my love for them. 

“To my family, 

I remember. I remember when you debuted, I remember the first album, I remember the first win. I remember the first loss, first heartbreak. I remember all the tears and all the smiles. I remember all the love. 

I got into kpop way earlier, when I was way younger. But you, Super Junior, was the first group that I choose to love myself. Not that I didn’t love S.E.S, Shinhwa, etc. but I learned to love them because my father loved them. Super Junior was my first love, in a lot of ways. Later I fell in love with SHINee and other groups and soloists and things changed but you stayed. 

I remember the time when music was fun and it made me feel alive. Nowadays it’s all about the awards and who gets the most views. I do not understand streaming, I’m just glad I don’t have to watch videos on 240p anymore. 

So, Super Junior. I was in school, I traveled around the world after my father’s job. I never stayed in one place long enough to make friends. So it was nice to have you by my side. The everlasting friend.   

I don’t know what happened, I grew up. You grew up, we grew up. I lived through many bad years, we lived through those years. We had bad years and I had bad things happen to me that weren’t related to you. Somehow, we overcome those things. 

I know I haven’t always been the most active fan. I have walked away. But I always came back eventually. I always came back home to you. No matter what happened, where I was, who I loved, what I was thinking; you always had a special place in my heart. You will always have a special place in my heart. 

I know without you I wouldn’t have made it through the few worst years. Or maybe I would have given up when I was just a kid when I was all alone. I owe you so much and I will try my best for the rest of my life to pay it all back to you. I owe it to you, for saving my life. 

After all those years, after bad moments and heartbreaks and goodbyes, I still remember the love. I shall give that love back to the world in your name. I will tell the world about you wherever I end up and tell how you helped me through dark times. 

I hope from now on we could leave the past behind us and walk only flower roads. But that’s not how the world works. So I hope we all can make peace with our pasts, I could make peace with my own past. I hope we can walk to the future with light hearts. 

I love you and your music more than I have words to explain. I want to thank you for more things than I can count.
