I wonder if the Tachonis bloodline has so many people in it is because this (ascending themselves) has been a generational plan all along or if Primus and his brother were born and these two specific brothers battled it out for The Worst Husband Award and Best Abusive Father mug and their parents never broke their competitive beefs apart
Like?? Where are the mothers?? Where is Occtis’ mom who (we can assume) gave birth to all 8 kids as Occtis has been pretty forthcoming about his familiar details and has never once said half-siblings the way Hal has referred to Thjazi once. Is she dead?? Was she a sacrifice having married in and therefore may not have been a sorcerer?? Where is Occtis’ Aunt, the numbers’ cousins mom?? Are they chill and calm having pumped out all these kids and seeing them get murdered and sacrificed and marionette’d or were they purposely told to perform their wifely duties with childbearing and to have as many as possible to the point it may have killed them???
Cause like the Halovars are doing arranged marriages but all the other houses seem to be fucking normal about romance and sex and if you want to have a family. It’s just these two houses in particular that are super controlling with the whole serving a purpose to the generational family thing
as glad as i am to see that the roleplay ecosystem on tumblr has kicked up in recent years, i've also realized that it's been a while since i've considered the nuances of rp interactions. it used to be much simpler a good few years ago, but with tumblr removing post-trimming functionality, a lot of newer residents have just been enduring threads that span several tens of posts.
ATTENTION ALL RP HEADS! THERE IS A BETTER WAY! (on mobile, at least)
PLEASE direct your attention to XKit!! (i have it on firefox, and installed it from here, but it probably works on other browsers as well). you're probably familiar with it, but if you're not, it's been the extension that's made so many of tumblr's more annoying changes tolerable by reverting/fixing them. and it's been a boon for the rpc for a while now.
included in its great list of quality-of-life features is something that looks like this:
THIS. is going to be your best friend. your confidant. your lover. your silly rabbit.
when you turn this dial here, you'll find a new icon that shows up at the bottom of all of your posts and drafts. i'll use a screenshot of my own blog for convenience:
clicking on that pair of scissors will take you to a screen that looks like this:
there's only two posts in this thread- mine and gio's (everyone say hi gio)- and of course, i can't trim my own response to the post, or there would be nothing left. so there's only one thing to trim, here. depending on the size of the thread you have, though, there could be a lot more. regardless, if i were to trim the post, it would end up looking like this:
i saved it as a draft bc i don't actually want to post it, but you get the picture. my roleplay partner would still receive a notification that i reblogged the post, and the notes counter remains the same, even though the trimmed replies aren't visible in the latest reblog.
it's exceptionally convenient!!! if it's at all in your power to use it, i would highly recommend it! especially for our friends who may be mobile only (since currently i don't believe there's a solution to thread trimming on mobile, unfortunately)
a hoe may never get cold but there are consequences
if i had a nickel every time dan stevens played a blue nonbinary scientific space creature who gets shipped with a green nonbinary space creature where the ship is automatically labelled solely as yaoi despite the fact both parties in the ship are nonbinary i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

I have no idea how this works, but I hope Talamasca being canceled doesn't mean anything negative for IWTV. Negative only in the sense that maybe them canceling one show in the franchise means they're more likely to cancel other shows in the franchise? Though they did say this:
The Talamasca has a storied place within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organization itself, in future expressions of the franchise
which makes it sound like they're possibly going to create more original shows in that universe, so they might just be canceling one that didn't work for them. And since it's based on original material, not books, it's a lot easier to cancel. And I can see why, honestly. I didn't love it, and it didn't get really good reviews. And I feel bad for him, maybe he's great in other things, but the lead actor especially did not get particularly good reviews, so that's hard. And it seems like AMC loves that IWTV is such a critical favorite, and then Mayfair at least has viewers (though they did bring in a second showrunner with more of a prestige background, seemingly trying to make it more acclaimed).
So maybe this has nothing to do with IWTV's chances of getting another season or two. And I am more relaxed now that we at least got season 3 and TVL, though I would be really disappointed if we didn't get season 4, of course. But I think it's likely they're really planning on that, and canceling IWTV would be a much bigger deal than canceling Talamasca. I kind of doubt they're planning more than 5 seasons of IWTV anyway, based on what Rolin has said. Maybe I could see 6 but I think 5 might be more likely.
It's a shame because I do think the concept of a Talamasca show has legs, but I agree that what they did with it didn't really work, so I'm not terribly surprised it's been cancelled. I do feel a little bad for the lead actor too given they really hung the season on his shoulders and I just don't think the writing was strong enough to lift his performance, nor his performance strong enough to elevate the material, although I will say I feel a little less bad for him since finding out he's Jane Turner's son (she's literally an Australian comedy icon, he'll be fine, haha).
I don't think it really has any bearings on IWTV though. From Rolin saying that they're splitting TVL in two and this season being seven eps, I suspect that AMC has given them a 15-episode order to adapt the book like they did with IWTV. That would mean that s4 is already more or less greenlit, and I can't imagine that AMC wouldn't want Rolin's version of Queen of the Damned, not just because they're clearly investing a lot in their relationship with him, but that source material's iconic enough that it'll be buzzy no matter how it shakes out.
With IWTV and Mayfair Witches as the tentpoles, there's really so much storyworld to explore, and it seems like they have a lot in development. If they feel Talamasca didn't land as they wanted it to, it makes sense that they'd shift focus.
rp becomes so much fun when it's like. 75% off-the-cuff casual threads with no real direction, just two characters bouncing off one another for the fun of it just to see how they engage and develop over time, 20% more in-depth plotted things with a sense of direction and an eventual endgame discussed between both of you, some storylines, maybe some romantic connection planned out, and 5% the most deeply plotted, multi-dimensional stories where your two muses are compatible on all fronts and the other person becomes one of your closest friends after everything you've written. like you could suggest the wildest au and the other person is like i'm in, let's do it. that's when this hobby is the most fun (for me)
@howthesleeplesswander || kaz finally got his shit together for Spring (。-_-。 )人( 。-_-。) lez go
Kaz Brekker didn’t need to make up excuses.
He didn’t need to waste entire weeks of his life pacing the creaky floorboards of his office like some anxious podge who couldn’t figure out the definition of “decisive” if it was plastered to his face. He didn’t need to reread every letter she sent, digging into each pen stroke like it held whispers of a sign that’d tell him where to go from here. He didn’t need to fabricate a reason to visit her, to spend time with her when they both (clearly) wanted it. He didn’t need to do any of this useless piffle.
So of course he did.
It was a culmination of those arduous evenings spent holed away in his quarters—mind a swirl of what-ifs and what-thens, plans taking shape and action—that finally brought him to be by Spring’s side today. And, for the very first time, beyond the crowded Ketterdam streets. Kaz had invited her out to the countryside under the pretense that he’d found her a new client: not any more of a truth than it was a lie. He’d communicated that something required her attention—her particular expertise—and suggested they go together.
Did he exercise the possibility that she might deny him . . . ? Partially. (But he’d digested her letters enough times to convince himself it was a slim chance, if one at all—logically, that is, while another side of him was still entirely perplexed by the realization.)
Together (how heavy and meaningful that word suddenly felt), the two of them walked along the dusty dirt paths woven into farmland, passing an occasional carriage that began to look exceptionally inviting for a limping fool of a man who thought the stroll would be pleasant—and another excuse to spend more time by her side. The sun felt hot, almost foreign on what it could reach of his skin, bathing his cheeks in warmth enough to somewhat redden them. (He’d forgotten to bring his hat . . . and was only mildly furious about it.) When they approached a gentle upward slope, Kaz had to bite his tongue to keep a curse behind his lips.
But it was easy to ignore that ache in his leg, even when it spiked from overuse. It was easy to ignore the heat collecting in his dark clothes. It was easy to ignore how absurd he felt about all of this . . . simply because he kept her close, walking in that proximity that granted the occasional brush of their arms. It was easy to ignore most things that bothered him, really, when in her company.
“I’m still surprised you don’t come out here more often,” he eventually supplied, breaking a small lull of quiet after their previous conversation. Kaz lifted his chin, craned his neck as if to see over the bend of the hill they climbed. “You’ve always struck me as someone who would thrive away from the city: somewhere you and your flowers won’t suffocate.” A sidelong glance brought with it the faint quirk of his lips. “Stay where the business is, I suppose.”
