hi asking for more info for a sys friend is there such a thing as, in a way, delayed amnesia? they used to have lesser amnesia in the past but in recent years are slowly having their memories more fragmented and out of order. we’re not sure how to advise because we do not know if amnesia only happens immediately (or if there’s a time frame for when it happens)
i think i get what you're asking so i'm going to try answer this the best i can
first, amnesia doesn't happen straight away, during a moment a person can remember what is currently happening just fine but then afterwards that memory may become foggy, fragmented, disconnected or may be gone completely. this is normal (for amnesia anyways).
there is no time frame for amnesia to kick in, it varies from person to person and depends onthe type of amnesia
second amnesia can and does get worse with time, it can also get worse with stress and stuff, but like i mentioned before it depends on the type
" The memory loss may be for a short time and then resolve (transient). Or, it may not go away, and, depending on the cause, it can get worse over time. "
" While some cases of anterograde amnesia may be temporary, this condition is usually permanent and may become worse over time. "
" Stress and traumatic events later in life can also cause dissociative amnesia symptoms to reappear or get worse "
i hope this helps a little! if you have any further questions feel free to ask!
