love *should* be everything it’s cracked up to be, y’know? it should be the very epitome of all the joy and happiness and light that makes life worth living. i don’t care if that sounds cheesy because i really do want to believe that it’s true.

i think, for me, love should be both simple and overwhelming, in all the best possible ways.

love is endless conversation and comfortable silence. love is singing along to the radio together, putting up with each other’s silly guilty pleasures. love is compassion, and genuinely wanting what’s best for the other person. knowing and creating a sort of sanctuary of your own, but taking great comfort in knowing that their presence in your sacred space won’t be an intrusion. it’s curling up into their sanctuary and knowing you’re not an intrusion. it’s intimacy of every kind. it’s consideration, respect, gratitude, curiosity. it’s unbearable amounts of laughter, the blissful type where you don’t think about how your laugh sounds or what your face looks like. it’s fiery and passionate, but it’s familiar and safe. love is reciprocation and mutuality; it’s seen and felt and heard and intrinsically understood.
