Here’s the fic yall have waiting so patiently for… *grins evilly*
It was a pleasant morning. The sun shined gracefully, its soft rays filtering through the leaves of the oak trees. Birds chirped gleefully to each other as they flew in the sky together. A white dove carefully brought berries to its nest, its partner laid upon a bundle of twigs and leaves they called home. The scent of fresh spring air wafted through the open windows, rustling the white lace curtains.
In her kitchen, Duchess pours the loose rose petals into a porcelain tea kettle filed with hot water. A knock from the door startles her. She jumps a little. Opening the door stood Annie. A visitor Duchess didn’t expect today, but she’s always welcome.
“Good morning Annie.” She greets her. Annie stormed into the room, her feet stomping heavily on the floor. She didn’t even bother greeting or even looking at Duchess. It was making her nervous. Something isn’t right…
They both sit down at the table in silence. A tension begins to rise in the air. Annie shifts in her seat awkwardly.
I can feel my heart racing and my mind racing faster. Do I tell her now? Her fingers clench the porcelain teacup tight, her claws scratching the fine, delicate stone. Her fluffy red tail tucked around the leg of the chair.
“Everything alright dear?” Duchess asks, holding out a hand across the table to Annie. Annie turns to the side, moving her arm away from hers. “Did I do something to upset you, Dear?”. Annie doesn’t speak a word. Her ears pinned against her head in distress. The silence loud and tension thick in the spring air, not even the birds that chirped all day long had made a peep. She chugs down the rest of her herbal tea and slams the teacup shaking the table. A droplet of sweat rolled down Duchess’s cheek. Annie had never acted like this before. All day a tense feeling lingered in the air, no matter how much she tried to lighten the mood with a soft smile.
Annie takes in a deep breath before speaking. “I’m breaking up with you.” She states. Duchess stares at her for a moment, her eyes wide in shock. “Come again?” She asks. Annie sighs, tears welling in her eyes. “I just- I don’t think this is going to work anymore.” A loud shattering sound echoed through the air. Duchess sat there, her face pale as snow on a winter morning. A burning sensation began in her eyes. Her vision blurred as tears dripped from her eyelids. “Why? Did I do something wrong?” She cries, burying her hands in her face, the fabric of her white gloves dampening as more and more tears fell. She choked on her words as she spoke.
Annie hugs Duchess, her tears soaking her dress. “I love you. I’m sorry things have to end like this…”. The two sob uncontrollably together for a moment before letting go of each other. Annie touches her face, wiping away her tears, makeup smudging on the tip of her thumb. “I’m sorry…”. She apologizes. “I still love you, dear.” Duchess sobs as she lets go of her hand. The warmth of her lingers on her body, even warmer than her burning eyes and the sun blazing on her skin.
Annie leaves, walking into the forest, never to be seen again. Duchess, through her tears, looks down at the broken blue porcelain teacup, while the other red teacup sits on the other side of the table, scratched with claw marks. Despite not having any green tea today, a bittersweet taste lingered on her tongue.
Yes this is my way of announcing that Annie and Duchess are breaking up. Feel free to ship them though I don’t really care to be honest. Sorry I had to release this during pride month #doomedyuri #wlw
