11x10 — a Christmas dream that turns into a nightmare
In this episode, Rowena has a dream.
A Christmas one — which only makes it more unsettling.
Crowley looks like a big child:
wearing pajamas, barefoot, rummaging under the Christmas tree in search of presents.
He finds a box, opens it,
and excitedly shows Rowena a vinyl figurine of Sam.
And then Lucifer appears.
He’s dressed as Santa Claus
and starts beating Crowley with an oversized candy cane.
Rowena stands nearby —
with reindeer antlers and a red nose —
and smirks:
“You’re new here.
I’ve been seeing this nightmare for months.”
Christmas here isn’t a celebration.
It’s a set piece for violence.
Warmth, coziness, childish imagery — all turned into mockery.
In reality, it’s even worse.
Sam is being held captive by Lucifer.
And Lucifer calmly explains to him
that Sam is the one he needs
in order to defeat the Darkness.
And it is in this episode that Castiel agrees
to become Lucifer’s vessel.
After this “Christmas” dream,
after a scene where the holiday itself is a nightmare
and loved ones are nothing more than toys in evil hands.
This is the moment when the illusion of warmth finally breaks,
and Cas’s choice becomes especially tragic.
Because he does it
out of desperate need to stop something even worse.
This is a Christmas
where no one is saved.

В этой серии Ровена видит сон.
Рождественский — и от этого особенно тревожный.
Кроули выглядит как большой ребенок:

Он находит коробку, открывает ее

Он одет как Санта-Клаус

Ровена стоит рядом —
с оленьими рогами и красным носом —
и усмехается:
«Ты здесь новенький.
А я этот кошмар вижу уже месяцами.»
Рождество здесь — не праздник.
Это декорация для насилия.
Тепло, уют, детские образы — превращены в издевку.
В реальности все еще страшнее.
Сэм находится в плену у Люцифера.
И тот спокойно объясняет ему,
что именно Сэм ему нужен,
чтобы победить Тьму.
И именно в этой серии Кастиэль
соглашается стать вместилищем для Люцифера.
После этого «рождественского» сна
после этой сцены, где праздник — это кошмар,
а близкие — игрушки в руках зла.
Это момент, когда иллюзия тепла окончательно ломается,
и выбор Каса становится особенно трагичным.
Потому что он идет на это
из отчаянного желания остановить худшее.
Это Рождество,
в котором никто не спасен.
