honestly, yeah. I feel like one of boboiboy’s biggest issues is that their characters’ traits aren’t consistent but they also do not utilize the traits that ARE consistent. While I love and read the whole boboiboy galaxy comics, the series adaptation had a few things I disagree with but what can we do lol

I have personal beef with Fang's powers. I swear no other character's powers make me more pissed off than his because it just doesnt make SENSE.

according to Oxford Languages (the google search I just did), a shadow is defined as "a dark area or shape produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface." Or basically, a shadow is kind of anti-light or absence of light. Shadows are also not a physical thing as they have no matter (doesn't take up space and doesn't have mass).

THEREFORE. EVERY SINGLE USAGE OF FANG'S POWERS IS

EVEN IN HIS WIKI PAGE EXPLAINING HIS POWERS, THEY USE TERMS LIKE "LEMBAGA" AND "JELMAAN" WHICH MEANS SILHOUETTE, BASICALLY. SO EVEN THEY KNOW THOSE AREN'T DAMN SHADOWS.

Are they cool as all hell? Yes. Are the capabilities of Fang's powers consistent? NO. WHAT THE HELL DOES SHADOW HAZE EVEN MEAN??? THAT'S NOT A REAL THING, MONSTA

honestly, at this point, I think Fang's powers can do whatever the writers want to happen just to move the plot forward. I'm still stuck on the shadow haze thing because how the HELL did multiple professional, working adults in an entertainment industry looked at that and thought "Yeah, that sounds good let's put that in."

like, boboiboy is RIGHT. THERE. GOPAL IS RIGHT THERE. YING IS RIGHT THERE. GOPAL HAS THE ABILITY TO TURN THINGS INTO ANY MATERIAL THAT HE WANTS BUT THEY DO NOT EXPLORE THIS CONCEPT AT ALL?? WHY DOES HE NOT TRAIN TO USE IT MORE. WHY DID THEY SHOW US THIS AND THEN THREW AWAY THE IDEA.

if you want to give fang shadow powers, that's fine, great, amazing! So then GIVE HIM SHADOW POWERS. At the top of my head, there are two characters who have actual shadow-esque powers a.k.a shikamaru from naruto and dr. facilier from princess and the frog.

Shikamaru primarily uses "Shadow Imitation Jutsu" which means when his shadow connects to another person's shadow, they're forced to mimic whatever he's doing. He can also do something similar to Fang's "Tangan Bayang" or "Shadow Hands (?)" (im sorry I watch the show in malay) with the key difference being his shadows STAY ON SURFACES AND ARE NOT 3D.

while Dr. Facilier doesn't have shadow powers exactly, he has a living (?) shadow that IS A 2D SHAPE THAT STICKS TO SURFACES AND IS NOT 3D.

like, yes of course the shadow being will wreck havoc via taking things through their shadows. their 2D shadows. that do not have a physical form because they have no matter.

there are probably other examples but you get the point. So, how would I change this, if I could? I would honestly pick one. If you want Fang to have shadow powers, give him SHADOW POWERS. SHADOW MANIPULATION. HE SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RUN VIA THE POWER OF SHADOW THAT ISN'T POSSIBLE.

OR! If the writers just simply love Fang's zoo of weapons, then give him another, similar power that has a physical form.

me, personally, the power that would work best for Fang is the power of Illusion. Throughout the whole run of Boboiboy, Fang is always hiding something. No other main character except for him has changed sides in multiple arcs only for it to turn out that he was acting and was working as a double-double-agent. I'm not sure if the short time he was with Adu Du in the first few seasons of original Boboiboy counts but the one where it turns out he was an alien and the ending of Boboiboy Galaxy 2 are key examples of this.

You can still have the animals, you can still have the haze or whatever else you want Fang to do except this time, he can ACTUALLY do those things because with Illusion, the possibilities are honestly endless. Are they real? No but they don't need to be real for it to work and look cool as hell.

I'm imagining something like Genjutsu from naruto and yes, I know I've mentioned naruto twice in this post because I am a loser and a nerd but it's worth it, promise! It could work like the fox miraculous in mlb or even like wanda's powers in age of ultron. they're all pretty similar in the sense that they are all illusion powers but different levels of effectiveness or how it's played out.

Fang could start off with simple illusions like heavy rain or his signature move of animals as weapons and slowly build up to more intricate and complex illusions that take the person or a group of people into a completely different, made up space. If you have read my first post about boboiboy, you'd know that I headcanon Fang as a swordsman just like Kaizo. I see his style of swordsmanship as less flashy, much quicker than Kaizo (without powers) and more lethal. He's like a shadow without having shadow powers! So he could lull his enemies with illusions before striking them down with his sword(s)!

let's get one thing straight -- I LOVE ejen ali and I love how the story's going so far especially ever since the second movie. I bawled my damn eyes out for a good portion of the movie and the ending was amazing and definitely hooked me for what's coming next

HOWEVER

on my rewatch of ejen ali series, there's a very prominent problem that lowkey (HIGHKEY) pissed me off. It started in season 2, specifically the young agents program and EVERYONE RELATED TO IT so I'm gonna put my 2 cents on how the characters should've been and how the Cores effect the agents

NEURO

this whole damn teras (core) is the root of my frustrations. Just to summarize, Neuro agents are the strategists and more often than not, the leaders of their respective squads. They have long ranged weapons so that they can protect their teammates and inspect the area. So tell me why the HELL ARE THE NEURO AGENTS SO DAMN USELESS AND AGGRAVATING TO NO END EXCEPT AGENT ZAIN, KOMANDER RAMA AND ALICIA (she pmo just a little bit but I can let it slide because she's a child)

the writers aren't using the neuro characters properly, is my theory. They're basically a bunch of Ron Weasleys and Sokkas -- they have long ranged weapons so put them AWAY from the fight and into like, the bushes or on the top of trees. They're strategists, observant, intelligent, analytical so make them ACT like it! The person who got nerfed the most is Jet, in my opinion because I think he would be exactly what a teenage boy in neuro would be like minus the fact that he's dumb as all hell. He and Rosa, especially -- neuro is exactly where they should be but the writers never once put them in positions where they have to take charge and make strategies and just act like neuro agents :(

So, if I could rewrite them, first and foremost I'll alter their personalities just a bit. Neuro agents are strategic, analytical and usually hold leadership positions. Neuro agents would also tend to be proud, arrogant, resilient, skeptical, witty, quick-thinkers, adaptable and a good portion have a surprisingly low patience level. They can be harsh, blunt and smartasses. Neuros are as stubborn as Kombat, observant as Inviso and intelligent as Tekno. They are usually up to date with current news and have a large range of information of all sorts of topics. They're basically nerds, valedictorians and would probably be on the student council. Hell, most of them are probably good at academics or hold some power in school. Teachers either hate them or love them lol

Neuro agent training composes of debates, strategy games of all sorts from chess to videogames. They are the only teras to train both mentally and in combat since their assets are their brains. Neuros would have an interesting dynamic witheach other since usually other Neuros are just as insufferable as them (yes, Neuros are insufferable this might as well be fact lol) but other Neuros are also the only ones that can keep up with them and they're all usually on the same wavelength despite having differing opinions on a situation. Think of them as the "first class"-esque -- they don't have inside jokes, per se but they make jokes based on what they learned or do in training so only they laugh at their jokes. Understanding a Neuro joke is the best ego boost because they'll give you a sort of look of respect. Training would be solo, most of the time and every once in awhile they'll spar each other to push both their strategy skills and their fighting skills. Tests are ever present and simulations are done so they can practice with a fake team with the other teras agents.

HOWEVER not all Neuros are perfect students nor are they the perfect leaders. Most of the Neuro agents' issues would either stem from insecurity (or a god-complex) or hyper-independence. Rosa, Alicia and Leon would be hyper-independent and be difficult to work with because they think the mission would be finished quicker and more efficient if they do it themselves and struggle to communicate with their teammates about their plan and to stay put in their own plan. Neither of them seem likely to do this often so I think this would only be shown when the situation is becoming more hopeless and they start to get overwhelm and panic.

Sam and Jet are both insecure but hide it behind the illusion of egos bigger than the sun so they tend to either jump into the fight too quick or hesitate a lot and end up risking the success of the mission. I think no one would listen to these two when they try to say their strategy since no one takes them seriously so they get hurt but then they'll alter the fight subtly so that their mission will be successful. This is probably already canon but I feel like it just had to be said hehe

In the series, I kinda want Roza and Jet to be seen being leaders or strategizing more. I know Jet was only in MATA because his dad wanted him to be in but he still should be a damn good agent especially since he's in neuro. In Season 2, I personally believed that the Neuros wouldn't have overwhelmed Ali the first time he came but were curious about IRIS. I lowkey forgot most of what happened in season 2 but Roza and Jet wouldn't get too upset when Khai, Moon and Iman were hurt like obviously they'll question what the hell happened but they'd only be like, livid if Mika or Chris respectively were the ones hurt because they seem like the type. Roza is damn better at strategizing and combat than Jet and could honestly rival Alicia in her marksmanship HOWEVER Jet is more of a charismatic, natural leader who, when he has enough confidence, can put his foot down and lead a large team of agents amazingly well while also being able to pick up a lot of information from the things going on around him and piece together the info like puzzle pieces (and be mostly correct)

Season 3 should've had more Jet and Sam interactions and Roza and Alicia interactions. I want Roza to have a bad feeling about Kim as well despite her slowly dropping her guard over the course of the season. Jet and Sam should've built each other up and made the other more confident to take charge and strategize after the camping episode (pls I wanna see this so bad) ESPECIALLY during the fight with cinco. I WANT SMALL STUFF TOO like Roza and Alicia giving each other a look when someone's being idiotic (Jet), Jet being THEEEE messiest gossip ever (the other Neuros eat it up they can pretend all they want but when Jet starts talking, they listen), Alicia helping the others out with close combat since you'd never know when your gadget might fail on you (their prides are a little stung by someone younger than them teaching them skills but they get over it)

Sam should've had a gun. ISN'T HE AMERICAN GIVE MY SON A GUN WITH THE SAME PROPERTIES AS HIS WATCH THING or maybe have something like Agent Gheeta?

pls this actually pisses me off so much because like, dude it just doesn't make sense how normal and human-like he is U HAVE AN ALIEN IN UR CAST USE HIM PLS </3 his powers also piss me off but im not sure if im gonna talk abt that here or in another post

anyways, here r my headcanons abt Fang's alien-ness and how ppl around him react to it bc damn u monsta for not utilizing this

first and foremost, he'll have a weird accent -- like, it sounds like a mix of many of Earth's accents but no one can pin point what it is specifically

its not WEIRD weird its just unfamiliar

he plays it well tho, all confidence, nonchalance and attractive face makes ppl see his accent as sooooo mysterious and hot

he can speak every language spoken in Malaysia btw bc he probably thought thats what everyone can do

gopal goes on a tangent in tamil bc he's scared of how his parents will react bc he got a bad grade or smth and fang's just like "this is why u have to study instead of playing games the whole time" or says smth (in malay) that references what gopal said in tamil

and the Gang just looks at him like O_O "u understand him??"

and fang's like "...yea? dont u guys know tamil?"

and they're like "no?? just a little bit??"

and fang's like oh! he learned all the damn languages in this country for nothing

its useful tho whenever they go to Sabah/Sarawak or go to other areas in Malaysia, Fang can talk to just abt any person which makes him their assigned Public Speaker

just... there's so much potential, yk? He's different than everyone else so there's a lot of potential comedy in him being oblivious at what hes doing and potential lessons in him viewing or doing things differently than the human cast

he can help the gang settle and act as a bridge between the humans and the aliens bc he's technically, both lol

human girls and guys describe him as otherwordly how he's so intruiging and mysterious bc of his aura and like, yea bc he's an alien

any aliens that the BBBGang helps will look at Fang first bc they know HIM (his brother, at least) before they knew boboiboy so they'll talk to him before turning to the others and most of the time, fang will have to translate the conversations

bc Monsta is not being realistic abt the physical and mental state of children who had been forced to fight unspeakable dangers at the age of 11 onwards so now I'm taking over

Yaya

if u think Yaya, at any age, didn't look at her powers and the awful, horrible things she has to put up with constantly that she shouldn't be at her age, and thought "I Must Prepare Myself For The Continuous Danger That Lies Ahead So I Can Protect Myself, My Friends and The World" and did exactly that ure WRONG

my hc is that Yaya works out a decent amount over her whole body but she has the strongest, most pronounced upper body/arm muscles anyone has ever seen on a teenage girl. Guys, come on, her main thing is flying, throwing things around and punching she needs to get SOME muscles from that alone??

oh and she also does professional boxing lol maybe when she's older she can even request TAPOPS to make her some special boxing glove-gauntlet hybrid for her to use when situations r dire like that thing she used during the last fight in Windara and when she fought Retakka during BBB Movie 2

strength wise, she's the strongest girl in TAPOPS (Shielda is coming at a close second) and the second most terrifying figure only to on-work Laksamana. she also has a super disciplined and ridiculously well planned schedule of when what how she works out and rarely strays from said schedule.

Ying

Ying and Yaya r just 2 kali 5 (the same) so if one does smth there's like a 75% chance the other's gonna do it too and no way these two didnt make it a competition between them so there's that too

like Yaya, Ying also works a decent amount evenly all over her body EXCEPT for her legs which she puts most 90% of her effort on bc like, yk.. speedster.. kicking ppl.. it kinda comes with the package or whatever

I hc that she's been doing Taekwando since early elementary and decided to go all in and more focused now that she has powers so by BBBGalaxy she's definitely a black belt BEAST

LEGS for DAYS dude she can probably crush a watermelon with her thighs and do NOT race her even without her powers she will most definitely beat u bc omg?? she's like a little hare?? she also probably does a bunch of other sports too now that her power gives her confidence and will compete with Fang often

also the only reason she isn't co-Strongest Girl in TAPOPS with Yaya (although she would be when it comes to lower body strength) is bc she can't have TOO much muscle then it'll be difficult for her to speed and sneak around and practicality is more important than a competition (look at my girl maturing) so she learns to let it go (eventually..bitterly..)

she, yaya + shielda r gym bros and compete over who has the most stamina

Gopal

guys, Gopal is canonically large yet fit. BRO CAN CANONICALLY DO GYMNASTICS HAS MONSTA NOT DONE SMTH ABT THIS??? my man has been gifted, sniped and robbed

I hc Gopal to be like, super duper built!! since he likes eating but Captain Papa forces him on a strict work out schedule he just keeps growing and working out until he's practically a mountain lol

idt Gopal would do much martial arts? maybe he'll pick up a thing or two from each of his friends' fighting styles but thats abt it lol I hc Gopal as their marksman so while hes not super good at martial arts, he's like the top tapops sniper/shooter

GUYS PLS HE CONSTANTLY USES FINGER GUNS TO ATTACK THINGS FROM AFAR WHY WOULD HE NOT HAVE THE MOST KILLER AIM/EYESIGHT EVER??? give gopal a gun and 10 targets and he'll shoot them all dead center in 20 seconds (and yes he can still do whatever ridiculous thing Monsta made him able to do but then forget for the rest of the series)

he also works out with yaya from time to time in exchange to teaching her how to cook/bake

Fang

why do ppl forget my manz has BEEN training since he was a child, probably. he was put into this life long before yaya, ying and gopal and maybe even bbb as well. justice for fang pls make him more op he deserves it hello??

anyways Fang will be lean but fit. he's not super skinny but hes nowhere near Gopal's level which hes a bit peeved abt but is mostly fine with since sleuthing and sneaking around requires more lithe bodies anyways

why would he take up on an Earthling martial art?? he probably takes up whatever martial art his home planet does but subconciously learns his friends' martial arts as well by sparring and watching them fight OH BUT HE CAN 100% SWORDFIGHT TOO

I hc Fang to have a sword made out of light/energy actually lol. I think it'll make sense for teeny tiny Fang to have it since Kaizo does but he never rly stopped learning and using it as he grows up despite his powers being shadow-based. maybe his sword even has a feature where it can create shadows?? idk but i need more swordsmaster/weapon master fang

he's as disciplined and determined as yaya and ying although he takes more cheat/off days than them OH AND HES SUPER AGILE AND QUICK WITH AMAZING DEXTERITY bc yes.

Boboiboy

so anyways Boboiboy does silat lol I hc Amato put him into in early on in his life and he's just been continuing to take lessons at pulau rintis and it effects the way his elementals fight (a mix of silat + whatever their home planet's fighting style is) PLS THE ELEMENTALS USING THEIR ELEMENTS AS KERIS OR SMTH THAT'LL BE SO COOL TO SEEEEE

also he has a sleeper build. I want this boy to look like the weak skrubkly wet cat when with his fit, muscly friends and the media/universe is like "lol look at this stick surrounded by his bodyguards" but gopal and fang know better. They've seen that same skrunkly wet cat flex his back while changing clothes and now they tease him at a distance where his arms can't immediately reach

hes like, a mix of fang and gopal?? like, at first captain papa has to force him to working out but then after that he kinda gets the hang of it so he has his own schedule that he follows but there r definitely days where he's too tired or too lazy to actually follow through lol BUT there r also days where he's suddenly a gym rat on steroids and he doubes, triples the time he spends at the gym then passes out after lol

anyways first tier elementals fight with whatever skill original bbb has while second tier elementals r the same + more individualistic (taufan has a lighter, quicker fighting style, solar and halilintar r almost similarly quick, efficient and deadly, etc etc), the third tier elementals fight with with a mix of silat + whatever martial arts their home planet uses and the fusions r the elementals' fighting styles combined
