IBM Brings Nvidia Tesla M60 GPU Accelerator to the Cloud
A big blue has announced that it's now providing the Nvidia Tesla M60 GPU accelerator to enterprise clients inside cloud. IBM said hello is the first company to take action, giving companies of all sizes easier and much more affordable use of virtual desktop applications and never having to skimp on performance. The Tesla M60 (pictured above) will be the latest in the line of Nvidia GPUs available through IBM Cloud. The Tesla K80 as well as the Tesla K10 are offered also to companies trying to use the chips to accelerate deep learning, data analytics, and high-performance computing workloads.
Accelerating Desktop Applications
“By adding Tesla M60 GPU accelerators along with other Nvidia GPU offerings on IBM Cloud, customers can deploy fewer, stronger cloud servers while churning through complex jobs faster,” this company said within a statement. The ability to access the Tesla M60 GPU gives enterprise clients to be able to speed via a range of compute-intensive workloads, including data analytics, graphics, energy exploration and deep learning/artificial intelligence, in accordance with IBM.
“IBM is just as before among the first to showcase in bringing the newest Nvidia GPU technology to your cloud, which can be driving the subsequent wave of innovation and real-time collaboration across a diverse gamut of industries including healthcare and financial services, oil and coal exploration, media, architectural, engineering and construction,” this company said.
The Tesla M60 helps enterprises accelerate virtualized desktop applications, particularly CAD and CAM applications like AutoCAD, based on Big Blue. Clients can spin up these GPU resources on IBM Cloud upon an on-demand basis that can help cut their processing times from days (or weeks) to hours, as compared to using CPU-only based servers, IBM said.
Pay-As-You-Go Supercomputing

The addition in the new GPU towards the IBM Cloud brings workstation-class graphics-processing capabilities towards the cloud the very first time, based on Nvidia.
A GPU works jointly with a server’s CPU to accelerate application performance. The CPU offloads compute-intensive portions on the application for the GPU, which processes large blocks of internet data at one time instead of sequentially boosting the complete performance in the server environment.
GPUs, which accelerate greater than 400 scientific, engineering, deep learning, data analytics along with other HPC applications, are better for high-performance computing than CPUs alone because on the thousands of efficient, high-performance cores made to process information faster, IBM said.
