The way Emma looks at Regina
Everyone talks about Regina making “heart eyes” at Emma, namely THIS:
The infamous “RomCom Zoom”
AND THIS:
But what about the way Emma looks at Regina?
Emma is a lot more subtle with her face expressions but sometimes she can’t help herself, showing that she cares way more than she lets on.
1) “Welcome back” / “Thanks” - Emma is so happy and relieved to be back and here she’s genuinely thanking Regina for saving her. It’s probably the first time I’ve seen Emma give Regina such a smile.

2) At the welcome back party, we see Emma chasing Regina when she leaves Granny’s diner. Emma’s eyes say ‘STOP, don’t go so soon!’
“Archie’s cake” was just an excuse lol.
3) In the s2 finale, when Regina was happily willing to sacrifice herself to save everyone, Emma didn’t want her to do it. She looks so sad at the thought of Regina dying (even when they were fighting).
“Regina, please”
4) “My gift to you is good memories” - Emma is so touched and openly crying because Regina gave her a happy ending with her son… she may be even heartbroken having to leave Regina behind.
5) Here, Emma is giving Regina an endearing smile when Regina tells her “I don’t want to kill you”.

6) Watch Emma’s INTENSE look of worry when Regina goes undercover with the QoD.
“I see anything I don’t like, and I will come in blazing.”
7) “Maybe I need you” - Look at Emma’s reaction. Emma can’t believe Regina just said THAT to HER (neither could I tbh). Her expression is a mix of shock and hopeful (maybe even elation YES!).
8) That library scene! Yes the one where Emma throws a sad, jealous glance at Robin/Regina. (This is not just Robin/Regina talking but Robin holding Regina’s hand… really subtle but observe Emma’s eyes lowering towards their hands. I believe this shot was put there for a reason).
9) Last but not least, let us all witness a DESPERATE and TEARY-EYED Emma before her sacrifice for Regina (in the s4 finale):
“You’ve worked too hard to have your happiness destroyed!”

I LOVED that look too! I think I missed it because it felt more like a Swan Mills family moment than a SQ moment.
Actually there were quite a few Emma looks I missed:
1. That dopey, puppy dog smile right before Regina’s rom com zoom (this one I missed cuz tbh Regina’s look overshadowed Emma’s look).
2. When Emma offers to help Regina, she says “I’m gonna stick by you” with yet another one of her INTENSE looks of worry.
3. Emma’s little smile when Regina enters Granny’s diner for the welcome back party.
4. "I made you a promise I intend to keep. Everyone deserves their happy ending" smile
5. Emma’s relieved look when Regina wakes up in s3 mid season finale.
6. ‘You need a drinking buddy, shots?’ - Emma’s little victory smile when she manages to make Regina feel better.
7. ‘Madame Mayor, ready to pronounce free the fairies day?’
8. Emma getting out of the car (also overshadowed by Regina’s heart eyes lol)
9. Oh and this glance at the Regina/Henry hug
I’m sure there are more…

Its as if though Emma is completely enamored with Regina. Thinking : How is this woman even real? It appears Emma finds Regina just fascinating. She’s the best mom she could have asked for Henry a freaking sorceress , an all- around badass and royalty to boot.
