sure, in the movie Charlie seemed to interact one on one more with Knox, but the way he interacts with Neil—like it’s a brotherly second nature, like everything is an inside joke—is what gets me. the exchanged glances and smirks, the witty remarks and answers, the way he was the only other poet to ever say a word to Neil’s father, the way Charlie is the one to break the news to Todd, and (in my mind) possibly the first poet to find out.

Neil and Charlie have definitely been good friends since the beginning of their time at Hellton, if not beforehand as well. it’s truly unsurprising with how well their energies align (they match each others’ freak), being outgoing and adventurous.

The urge to feel melancholy for the millions that lost brothers in death, that watched the world around them fall apart, that thanked the skies for crying with them.

The urge to want to play a part in history but in the same moment having a fear of dying and inevitably being forgotten, like those who came before you.

Neil : No, Charlie, it's not what it looks like, I swear.

Charlie: Oh really? So no reason for me to be jealous?

Neil : No! You’re the only one for me.

Charlie: Is that so?

Neil : I promise! Todd and I are just dating, okay? He's my partner.

Charlie: So there are no best-friends-feelings involved?

Neil : You are still my one and only best friend! He's just the love of my life, nothing more!

Charlie: But I’m still the platonic love of your life, right?

Neil : Of course bro!
