my general opinion on what people should be "allowed" to portray and what topics they should be "allowed" to explore in fiction is that you can make whatever art with whatever themes you want but i'm also allowed to think the way you handled it was tasteless and should've been done differently. my negative opinion on your handling of sensitive topics is the price of admission for publicly showcasing your work. this is not a pro-censorship stance because i am not The Government

sorry circling back to this because i was on an airplane when i got this ask and didn’t fully process it-

what i don’t understand by the “gotcha” moment attempt is like. what else i would i take issue with besides the flippant attitude towards slavery and the fetishization of colonialism? i have scarcely interacted with any of these users before. i dont know them personally. i never gaf until they started throwing a fit over a reasonable remark in response to a fucking plantation owner blorbo. in fact i probably never would have gone beyond the potcconfessions beckett discourse if yall had not behaved like such fucking piss babies.

like do you think i hate you because yall post yaoi art or something? i’m literally a lesbian who also writes yaoi. i also enjoy complex and darker themes in media. i think all characters in this franchise have interesting qualities. like we ultimately have more in common than not, the only difference is that i have a reasonable aversion to fetishizing real historical atrocities. im not some kind of antiproship pro-censorship puritan trying to stop you from having your fun. you guys are purposefully misconstruing nearly every word of my posts.
