been thinking about masaki a lot bc he really doesn't make very much sense narratively but i was going for fun and whimsy over adherence to canon 💖

anyways he is actually a decent striker! he just never wanted to be one so the fact that he made it so far in blue lock is a fucking miracle!

thank you to rin and shidou for making that possible in the first and second selections!

he didn't join pxg for the NEL bc he didn't want to deal with shidou and rin. he knew they would fight. he wanted no part in that. he loves them both so much. he would have gotten himself kicked out of blue lock if he had to deal with those two together every day of the NEL

he picked barcha bc he thought they had the fewest defenders and thought that he could get himself ""forced"" to play defense (this somehow worked).

post blue lock he does in fact play professionally! but only like three seasons. bc he gets tired of being a professional athlete.

so he ends up with soooo many soccer teams he coaches bc he DOES miss soccer a lot :(

the two he consistently coaches are a professional academy team of middle school girls who bully the ever-loving shit out of him bc ofc they do and a university team who treat him with so much respect. it's constant whiplash. he also coaches his youngest brother's rec team and they're like,, u9s so they're itty bitty teeny tiny

he's like a quarter white bc his dad's dad is american, and his dad grew up in the us, so masaki is fluent in english bc of that!!

he doesn't really talk about it bc he forgets not everyone is fluent in a second language?? he's a little bit stupid sometimes

he does genuinely mean the hate that he posts on his stupid twitter account about hating sae for the first year post-blue lock, but it very very quickly becomes less real once he starts playing professionally and actually has a conversation with sae

then he falls in deep gay love with sae and has to text rin like "hey yk how i said i would never be nice to your brother bc he's a dick? uh about that..."

rin is predictably pissed (he gets over it)

masaki and sae do in fact elope and also never officially announce it. masaki posts a picture of his engagement ring on the hate account (it's an open secret that it belongs to masaki), but with no context

the girls masaki coaches catch on to them way sooner than they should have bc masaki sucks at keeping a secret

anyways i gave masaki and sae a daughter (she's adopted) but hey they get her as an itty bitty infant and she unfortunately gets really good at that patented itoshi glare. but also she lowkey has a much more similar personality to masaki? like she's super friendly but her resting face IS the itoshi death glare and it has been since she was approx five months old 😭
