scarlett  had  suffered  from  her  fair  share  of  riding  related  INJURIES  that  she’s  accumulated  from  her  adolescent  years  and  it  was  really  just  poor  timing  on  her  part  mixed  with  some  bad  luck  .  there  was  one  instance  where  she  had  been  bucked  off  her  horse  ,  but  that  was  more  from  the  snake  wriggling  in  the  brush  than  athena’s  own  temperament  .  getting  hurt  was  just  something  that  came  along  with  the  territory  of  being  an  equestrian  .  given  ,  that  chapter  of  her  life  came  to  an  END  a  while  back  ,  but  she  still  views  riding  as  a  hobby  that  she  couldn’t  ever  truly  give  up  .  hence  why  she  NEVER  viewed  her  injuries  to  be  as  bad  as  they  were  .  scarlett  was  taught  by  her  father  to  pick  herself  up  by  her  bootstraps  and  move  on  with  a  smile  and  a  learned  lesson  .  well  —  clearly  that  mindset  didn’t  seem  to  hold  up  all  that  well  in  due  time  .  fast  forward  to  her  laying  in  a  hospital  bed  from  her  own  EMBARRASSING  misjudgment  while  on  her  daily  morning  run  where  she  was  oblivious  to  the  indentation  of  the  pavement  .  she  only  BECAME  aware  when  she  felt  her  ankle  twist  in  a  way  that  was  it  most  definitely  should  NOT  ,  following  a  rather  painful  crack  .  the  doctor  told  her  that  an  old  ankle  fracture  (  most  likely  from  her  competitive  riding  days  )  hadn’t  properly  healed  which  left  her  vulnerable  to  developing  a  chronic  arthritic  joint  .  scarlett  remembers  all  the  times  her  mother  called  her  too  stubborn  for  her  own  good  ,  which  she  acknowledges  now  as  she  remembers  the  mild  sprain  she  ignored  years  ago  that  just  came  back  to  bite  her  in  the  ass  .  or  karma  in  this  case  .  scarlett  WONDERS  if  she’s  hallucinating  when  her  doctor  leaves  the  room  only  to  be  replaced  by  —  her  ex  ??  chocolate  hues  can  only  blink  in  response  as  she’s  stuck  in  stunned  silence  .  ❝  what  ??  ❞  scarlett  fumbles  ,  completely  NOT  what  she  wanted  to  say  at  all  but  it  comes  out  nevertheless  .  ❝  what  are  you  doing  here  ??  who  called  you  ??  ❞  she  moves  herself  into  a  better  sitting  position  and  feels  oddly  VULNERABLE  in  the  hospital  bed  ,  ankle  wrapped  in  gauze  and  stuck  with  minimal  movement  while  their  presence  seems  to  fill  the  room  .

as  someone  who  often  DREAMED  of  traveling  the  globe  ,  the  money  in  his  bank  account  often  offered  a  sad  reality  for  tony  and  was  realistic  .  he  had  a  bank  loan  to  pay  back  for  when  he  went  to  school  for  his  associate’s  degree  and  it  REALLY  lowered  his  desire  to  ever  consider  pursuing  his  education  further  with  a  bachelor’s  degree  .  his  old  job  barely  left  room  to  enjoy  remotely  anything  considering  how  shit  it  payed  and  most  of  his  income  went  to  bills  and  ,  y’know  ,  the  general  amenities  to  live  .  it  was  a  tough  gig  and  tony  ALLOWED  himself  to  suffer  with  it  for  nearly  two  years  before  his  mom  suggested  becoming  a  flight  attendant  .  which  —  how  had  he  not  considered  that  before  ??  being  paid  to  fly  to  these  countries  and  being  able  to  spend  some  time  there  before  his  next  trip  ??  sign  him  up  .  fast  forward  to  now  where  he  has  a  solid  five  days  before  he’s  expected  on  a  flight  to  london  .  it’s  been  part  of  his  routine  by  now  and  tony  decided  that  he  deserved  a  solid  airbnb  since  he  could  barely  tolerate  a  crash  pad  filled  with  other  flight  attendants  on  a  good  day  ,  let  alone  four  solid  days  .  but  leave  it  to  tony  get  more  ATTACHED  to  the  host  than  he  should  probably  should  .  but  hey  ,  in  his  defense  ,  they  were  cute  and  there  was  something  about  them  when  they  offered  to  show  him  the  sights  in  the  city  that  stirred  something  in  him  .  ❝  i  mean  ,    i  don’t  want  you  to  feel  like  you  HAVE  to  show  me  these  places  .  you’re  letting  me  stay  at  your  place  to  begin  with  and  it’s  just  —  i  don’t  want  you  to  feel  like  it’s  an  OBLIGATION  .  ❞  tony  offers  in  explanation  despite  really  feeling  quite  the  opposite  about  the  situation  .  tony  was  always  a  sucker  for  a  pretty  face  and  leave  it  to  him  to  get  whipped  not  even  a  day  in  .
