There are 20 images on show, each a 5″x 7″ pigment ink print on acid free paper, in an edition of 25. For the duration of the show I’m throwing in the 8″ x 10″ contemporary black frame the prints are displayed in.

New work! Part of a growing series relating to self imposed restrictions, or so I think at the moment. The images come one at a time and I’m not always sure what they’re really about until they’re made. Stay tuned for more in this series.

The yearly competition attracts thousands of high quality entries from the world over and it’s such an honor to be included in this year’s finalists.

My image “augery” was accepted into the “Mother Earth” exhibition at Lightbox Photographic Gallery in Astoria, Oregon and it received an honorable mention! The show was juried by none other than Stu Levy and runs now until September 8, 2015. The show is full of wonderful imagery featuring a wide variety of photographic genres and interesting interpretations of our natural world.

The Serpentine River, low tide. Image 27/100 for the #100DaysofFacingtheCoast project. This is same location as I mentioned in my last post and only a few minutes apart. It was so calm that evening! This River in addition to be affected by the ocean tides, is also controlled by a sea dam installed just upstream. The season was put in place to protect the local low lying farmland from the brackish waters of the River and also to control flooding. Sometimes the flooding still wins. #cascadiastoryproject #serpentinefen #riverbanks

Stopping to smell the roses, finally! After falling off the IG wagon about three weeks ago I figured it was about time to get back on. Submitting this one as image 24/100 for the #100DaysofFacingtheCoast project. These beautiful wild rose bushes are not only pretty, but their enticing perfume has me sticking my nose in them on my walks around #mudbay on the south east side of #boundarybay in BC's Lower Mainland. In contemplation of the perfectly imperfect and post 19/100 for the #100DaysofFacingtheCoast project. One of the things I am most enjoying about participating in this project spearheaded by @cascadiastoryproject is how it has given me pause to reflect on what I love about living here. It has helped refocus my attention to the more positive aspects of my local environment and diminish the negativity that seeps in when we don't connect with our spaces. I took this image yesterday while walking the dyke trial along Boundary Bay, south of Vancouver, a place I have been haunting the last few months. Not the prettiest place as ocean shores go, but full of life in its own right and a place where I feel farther away from things even though part of the trail borders a major highway. I saw this leaf on the ground, perfectly positioned in this small patch of light and it seemed a fitting expression, for me, of this experience. #vancouver #leafontheground #solitarymoment #salishsea

Winging its way to the A.Smith Gallery in Texas today, my image "Silver I" which will be part of the "Water" group show there in June! I took this off the Breakwater in Victoria last January, on the same walk actually, as my last IG post. The light that late afternoon was amazing, a combination of dull overcast with enough low angled sun to make the water's surface shimmer like metal. Post 16/100 for #100daysoffacingthecoast ! This past January I was walking along the breakwater on a trip to Victoria and couldn't believe my eyes when this Harbour Seal popped up with a really big octopus for her dinner. I was just able to grab a few, mostly blurry of course, images before she was gone. I saw her later farther down the seawall reclining on an exposed rock enjoying her meal. Centennial Beach, Boundary Bay, BC. Post 15/100 for the #100daysoffacingthecoast project. I'be lived in and around #vancouver BC for the past 20 years and had never visited this beach. Shameful! I had no idea it was such a magnificent spot and with these vast expanses of sand. You could walk for hours. So glad I went. #bccoast #vancouver #vancouverisawesome #cascadiastoryproject

wake 01. For the #100daysoffacingthecoast project. I have a fascination with the visual patterns of waves and water, actually I think most people do. Good thing I live near the ocean. One day I really will drop my camera in the water, or in this case my iPhone and I will be sad.
