what if in episode 5 after Sherlock catches up to James to apologize Sherlock suggests that they both ride the horse back, claiming it would be ‘more efficient’ rather than having him tow the horse back as they walked. this means that he spends the ride back to the manor with James pressed against his back and his arms around him. he also notices that James sits very close and holds him very tightly, and silently comes to the natural conclusion that James must not like horseback riding

as someone who's fallen in love with both dead boy detectives and young sherlock, the parallels and contrasts between payneland and sheriarty are killing meeee

they're the exact same. they're the exact opposites. both couples have the same spry, back-and-forth dialogue, completing the other's thoughts and finishing each others sentences. both couples have deep-cutting father trauma. both couples seek a constant pursuit of justice. both couples have a posh edwardian/victorian boy and his clever, endlessly charming boyfriend best friend. both couples blur the line between best friend, investigative partner, and romantic partner. neither couple can get enough of their partner.

mycroft during this dinner scene is so heartbreaking and interesting to me. he is acutely, physically distressed here, and particularly in these moments we see him flinching when silas and sherlock begin to get physical. it speaks volumes about his own childhood and they are not happy ones.
