You'd interviewed enough rockstars to know the difference between a real smile and a stage one. That was supposed to be the whole point of you, you know? The journalist who saw past the bit, who got the real answer when everyone else got the very well-rehearsed performance.

Luke Hemmings didn't give you a real answer. At least, not at first. He gave you something better, something worse — a version of himself so smooth and so practiced that it took you three whole questions to realize he'd told you absolutely nothing true at all.
