A year after the worst day of your life you are starting over in Raven Hill, NC a quaint area that overlooks Cold Mountain.
A small town with large secrets you aren't sure how to find your footing moving from the lively pace of the Outer Banks to the calm that the mountains offer.
Upon your arrival everything isn't quite what you expected. People are going missing again and all signs point to the mines. You find yourself drawn into the mystery that surrounds the town, and for better or worse you are going to find out what waits at the bottom of the mines.

In 1992 just three weeks before graduation you and three friends go camping. Everything was fine until it wasn't. What should have been a fun trip ends at the police station filing a missing persons report.
Ten years has passed and what remains of the friend group has returned to Bryson City to attend your high school class reunion. As you three return, strange things start to happen. Something or someone wants you to go back to the woods.

Update: Happy July! It's disgustingly hot outside so I will be indoors as much as possible and I encourage those who are enduring hideous weather to be safe.
The Forest: Moving Chapter 5 over as I type. A few changes being done on my end simply because of coding in four making options change/ giving me some different opportunities for the chapter. Big coding for 5 will take place Friday and over the weekend as I have it marked where I need to add code in for the most part already.
After that I will be fist fighting the stat page.
Cold Mountain and Have You Seen Me? are both similar to where they were a few days ago seeing as how I did an end of June update.
Chapter One Word Count: 11,000 (from 8,900)
Total Word Count: 12,146 words
What's new:
Choose whether to shower or bed-rot after waking up
Maybe the children's area is your shelving safe space!
A depression modifier that affects flavor text going forward (and more later in the story)
Opening the Book or Refusing will now have branching reactions inside the archive itself

Author Notes:
June (and life) has been absolutely brutal but we weren't going to let the month expire without some kind of update. We understand any disappointment that this doesn't include the second chapter but hope you enjoy what changes we've made.
About half of chapter 4 is through its (hopefully) last edits before anyone else’s eye touch it as I get it into the right version in twine. So I’m on track as long I don’t hit any major bumps we should be in schedule ❤️

You said everyone you get everyone lmao. Nah it's fine I'll just do The Forest, but as a bonus I'll throw in Alder and Mathias.
Caius: Still keeping to the shadows and avoiding the crowds. He doesn't understand why people are congregating in this heat.
Alvise: Stripping down and swimming in the closest river. Does not care who sees him, congrats or apologies but it's too hot for him to care.
Amber: Has made a lovely shaded sitting area by a river and is sipping her beverage.
Alecto: Has sought refuge in Ambers sitting area by the river. She is melting and wondering why she couldn't have be cursed with the power to freeze things.
Alder: Is keeping himself busy with a fan in hand his shirt soaked in cold water.
Mathias: Is a puddle on the floor unfortunately. Praying for the sun to set.

Your local tall and lanky, grump of a grocery cashier, Tyler, is stuck in an endless cycle of self-hate and hating the town edgelord much. he lets his emotions and impulses lead him. He can be found in the graveyard, maintaining the graves or just taking a nap.

The Werewolf: Luno ♱ He/Him ♱ 30 ♱
Your local elementary school teacher, the big, sweet, and soft-hearted Luno, leads with his heart and his stomach. When he isn't teaching, you can often find him grading papers at the town bakery or spending time with his pack by the lake.
The Vampire: Claude/Claudia ♱ She/Her or He/Him ♱ ??? 26 when turned ♱
Your local town weirdo runs an odds-and-bits shop from inside their shady old house. They can be quite the charmer if you understand them. They love poems and visiting the old moss-covered graves in the graveyard. They often share a drink with Tyler, the local edge lord. You can also find them by the old church- oh, who would have guessed on days when they have their shop closed.

The God: Ares ♱ He/Him ♱ ????? Looks like he's in his 30s ♱
Your local god! What is a god to do when not allowed to meddle in mortals' lives? Well, get a motorcycle and end up here, I guess. While most gods were quite happy to just relax in their domains, Ares still sought the thrill of the mortal world, and so somehow he has just arrived here in a monster's sanctuary, only for a little while, he told himself
The Necromancer ♱ Vale ♱ They/Them ♱ 179 died at 22 ♱
Your local uhh... Skeleton. A figure that often wanders the woods. There's a chance to see them harvesting particular mushrooms from rotten animal carcasses. During the day, they can be found hiding in an old, worn-down shack on the outskirts of town. They are blunt and quite serious.
The Ghost ♱ Elvet ♱ She/Her or He/Him ♱ 24 when they died ♱
Your local librarian, Elvet, is a sweet but aloof person, and try as they might, they tend to be quite distant from the rest of the town, mainly due to their shyness and anxiety. They also have a bad tendency to wander many a time, ending up somewhere they are not welcome.
The Kelpie ♱ Zaire ♱ She/Her or He/Him ♱ 29 ♱
Your local doctor... and drug dealer. Zaire is a calculated, smart person who is very dedicated to their work when dealing with people. They put on a very charming and confident, if not a tad cocky, mask. If not working, they can be found taking solace by the lake...unless that pack of mutts is there.
The Naga ♱ Desiderius/Desideria ♱ She/Her or He/Him ♱ 33 ♱
Your local news anchor they are straight to the point and cold they are also a perfectionist workaholic. When they are not on air, they can be found writing for the local newspaper and sometimes doing story segments for the news, mostly concentrating on crime and... gossip, though those are always "anonymous"
The Avian ♱ Ulysses/Ulyssa ♱ She/Her or He/Him ♱ 27 ♱
Your local lifeguard and barista is a chipper and flirty thing, but they also cannot for the life of them get subtle hints; they think most things in life are a joke when not working; they can be found whittling or napping in some tree around town, or if they are truly bored, they can be found pestering the naga.
The Drider ♱ Penn/Penelope ♱ She/Her or He/Him ♱ 31 ♱
Your local seamstress they enjoy being by themselves as people tend to stress them out, though they do love to people-watch from the safety of their shop. If they must leave their shop/house, they can be found in the bookstore, perusing the romance or manga section or the art store, perusing the painting aisle. They are very quiet and.. say odd things without meaning to
Flings
The Gargoyle ♱ Amadeus/Amadea ♱ She/Her or He/Him ♱ 43 ♱
Your local tattoo artist, who is a widower with two pre-teen twins, definitely has tons of "dad" humour. They are a very disciplined but pent-up person when not working; they are with their kids or having the occasional drink at the bar
The Demon ♱ Day ♱ GF, She/He/They ♱ ???? Looks to be in late 20s ♱
Your local bartender is very bold and promiscuous. Still, one must forget they are a demon of envy. If there is something they want, they will figure out how to get it, even if it is as fleeting as making someone jealous for something they truly have no deeper feelings about.
The Witch ♱ Marlowe ♱ They/Them ♱ 25 ♱
Your local well... witch, aside from being somewhat aggressive or always agitated, not much is known about Marlowe; they are either in the shop, the occasional visit to the bar or bookstore or at home when you come to see them at work. They are straight to the point.
The Slime ♱ Lynn ♱ She/Her or He/Him ♱ 23 ♱
Your local janitor... sounds counterproductive, no. A silly individual who says odd things but means well... I think? Has boundary issues and thinks things are a suggestion. When not cleaning the school, they can be found in a closet working on their college courses or taking a nap... sometimes in the mop bucket

Caius: He is keeping the shadows and staying away from crowded spaces.
The Mine Voice: He is quite cool where he keeps to himself, you couldn't pay him to venture out during the peak of the North Carolina summer.
Beau- Nice glass of lemonade, AC is blasting ( what else is he paying the bill for?) Other than that he does enjoy swimming.
Answering this for the Have You Seen Me? RO's and Friends
Beau- On the outside he is put together, he isn't going to let you see the damage, because he doesn't want to reveal a weakness. Even if grief is a process everyone goes through. Internally it's something he carries longer than many, never truly forgiving himself for not being stronger, more present, being more of something to prevent it.
Jessica- She doesn't she puts it off until she can't ignore the lingering feelings in the room anymore. In part it's why she works so hard, no one told it was okay to process those emotions. She spends years being hurt and angry because she didn't know there was another way to be.
A- Trying to maintain a routine but giving themself grace. A isn't a stranger to grief and has learned to cope even if it isn't the easiest thing to do. A does sometimes struggle though and will wallow.
Wyatt- In part Wyatt clings to grief because that is what Wyatt knows... when your life is structured around the grief of others how do you build your life without filling the gaps with the same thing? Wyatt has been working to break those patterns and truly deal with grief even if that isn't isn't easy for it.
Ash- (1992)A cigarette and loud music until they feel numb. (2002) Therapy has been a huge help to Ash in the last decade.
Brit- She journals her feelings as a way to decompress and get it all out. She struggles reaching out to others for help so when she does it's either because she truly is drowning or because she trusts them enough with her grief/pain.
It's been a long time coming, and I'm glad to finally say, the demo is out now on itch.io! I put a lot of sweat and tears into this, and if you find anything misspelled, coding seems off, let me know ASAP, and I'll fix it ASAP! You have all been very patient, and I appreciate every one of you. The excitement you have all had pushed me to keep wanting to create, and create I did. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. I hope you all continue to stay with me to the end of this game!

I'm going to follow the set pattern so
1.) IF: We Wretched Creatures.
Books: Tie between Little Women and Nancy Drew
2.) IF: The Six That Thrive ( still love wwc but I just finished what's out for tstt and wow)
Book: I don't have a favorite currently ( I do take recs if they are good). I do enjoy rereading the books I have by Amy Tan though.
3.) Horror, Mystery, Maybe some Adventure.
4.) I don't know that I have identified a favorite trope of mine. I have a least favorite but I won't get into that. That's a private opinion.
5.) I want to first acknowledge Jude had a great answer for this and everyday I think about the Twilight Pipeline. As a nod to younger me I'd have loved to written the Shadow Children series because I was obsessed with it and it always left me wanting more and in a way it made me want to write.
6.) "I know everything I will never have and everything that I have done. Do not seek to appeal to me through those means, for you shall not find an ally in my sorrow."
7.) Depends on my mood and if I have a headache. Books and IF's most days and when I need to get a break from my mind a video game.
8.) Jodi is my favorite and favorite to write varies based on the day but but is never Caius or The Mine Voice. So it could vary but Jodi would win based on the day unless she is facing someone from The Forest.
9.) All of them, I just flip through them so I don't burn out. Having the option to move through them helps with that.
10.) I am hypermobile, I write based on vibes so that can determine how fast a chapter gets done, my interest currently is music and trying to expanded from what I currently listen to. ( does that count)
