Let's'a Go!

“Grazie, grazie~. You have’a yourself a good one, too!”

A loud, thunderous grandpa snore rumbles the floorboards just a little, and Ridley’s thumb traces over the power button, turning the TV back on.

“ SNNNNZZZZHHHHHH … ” God, he has dad breath.

“...”

...Mario can’t tell if Ridley is actually conked out or just having himself a giggle. Judging by Samus’s personal testimony of character, it really could go either way. Still, there’s a fairly easy way to resolve this.

Mario hunkered down, reached behind the TV set, and gave the power cord a momentary yank, pulling it from the socket and cutting the power. 

     ❝Yah, nothing can stand up to us! Right, bro?❞

He fell asleep on the couch. The remote is still in his hand.

The TV is playing bad space talk shows. If you wanna change the channel, you’re gonna need to get the remote out of his claws.

Mario strolls on into the room. He takes a look at Ridley, then he takes a look at the TV. Then he takes a look at the remote in Ridley’s claws.

“...”

Mario then just kinda goes over to the TV and hits the power button on it manually.

As the Chain Chomp suddenly becomes aware of Mario, jerking to life and barking furiously, Mario takes a jolting hop back, prepared to book it if he had to.

...Then, out of nowhere it...just kinda-- stopped.  And then rolled upside-down.

“--Um...?” W h a t.

Mario blinks a few times in silence in response to the gigantic sphere’s actions, entirely at a loss to what he was witnessing. 

These things...lunged first and asked questions never, right? Heck, even Piranha Plants had a degree of sapience, but Chain Chomps had a ride-and-die credo to stick to “eat everything” mode.

“...” Still, this one...seemed strangely docile? It might be a dumb idea, but possibly...? “Ooh, Mama Mia, this is’a gonna backfire.”

Mario, crouched defensively, advanced closer to the resting Chomp, easing each step forward with utmost care. Far as he knew, a Chomp couldn’t launch itself in this kind of position, so he’d at least have a safe window of evasion if things went pear-shaped.
