I get lost thinking about the journey Crowley makes from Eden to the Apocalypse. I completely adore pre-Flood Crawly, the way that he’s still gleeful and curious about the world. He’s such a wily mischief fluff.

In praise of terrific and deliberate costume design: I can’t believe it took me this long to notice the way he gradually covers up his eyes more and more. After the Flood, she has her head covered. The next time we see him, post-Crucifixion, the sunglasses have arrived. And the specs get progressively larger over time, hiding more and more.

(I particularly love the L-shaped lenses in 1862.)

By the time we reach the Apocalypse, the glasses are opaque and completely closed off. Solid, armored protection on all sides.

(I know I didn’t catch every era, don’t @ me, tumblr gif search is the worst and the general progression seems fairly obvious, especially because of where it ends.)

You can see the progression on Crowley’s face too, of course. Watching Humans being Humans for so long starts to get to a demon. The glasses have to be impenetrable when this is where time and the Ineffable Plan have brought you.

(Got to be careful who gets to see you with the glasses off.)

(Got to have a whole glove box filled with extras so as never to be caught without them.)

There is something carefree about Crowley’s very first park bench scene with Aziraphale, in ep1. But it’s such a different kind of carefree than we used to see before the Flood. It’s world-weary, resigned, cool. He’s seen it all and he knows how the game is played.

This contrast, to me, is so perfect: he’s still Crowley. He’s just been around the block a few times by now.

Also, by the time we get to modern day, Crowley is only seen without sunglasses in 3 different settings:

1) when he’s at home by himself

2) when the glasses are destroyed/forcibly removed (I could rant for days about how horrible Hastur is for doing this)

3) the one time he willingly takes off his glasses while in full view of another person: in the bookshop with Aziraphale

Anyway, I find the concept of maturing for immortal beings so fascinating. We don’t really know how old they were when they met (was time even a concept at all?), but there is an innocence to both of them in the beginning, a sort of ingenuity from being out there in the world for the first time, that’s really not that far from the concept of youth.

Look at them chatting with the enemy. Do they even know that’s not allowed?

“See, thing is-”

Crowley’s words elude him- as they have a habit of doing, the sneaky buggers. He watches the white lines in the middle of the road streak by, feels the tarmac roaring beneath the car. It’s a rainy evening and they’re driving home from a restaurant north of Watford that Aziraphale has been banging on about for months. Since the world had ended- and then promptly not ended- the angel’s zest for food hasn’t lessened in the slightest. In fact, it’s only gotten bloody zestier, as if their near-apocalypse experience has made Aziraphale realise that life is too short. Even an immortal life such as his. 

Crowley loses his track of his thought entirely. “Thing is…”

“You were talking about-”

“KINDLES!” Crowley exclaims, taking his hands off the wheel to celebrate this eureka moment. Aziraphale straightens out beside him nervously and grabs a fistful of his corduroy trousers. Crowley slaps the leather of the steering wheel enthusiastically as he continues, “Kindles. Are not. Demonic! We didn’t come up with them- that was all you, I’m certain!”

“Why on earth would I invent the Kindle, dear boy? Do you even know me at all?”

“You-plural, not you-singular. Angels you, Heaven you.”

Logan says to take care of yourself!!

Have you drank water recently? Have you taken your meds? When was the last time you ate something? You should go to sleep if it's past midnight.

Janus paced back and forth on the floorboards, gloves shoved in his jacket pocked as the clock ticked slowly. The sound driving nails into his skull.

The yellow side bit the end of his finger, that had been a habit recently. The skin picking. It had been a problem years ago but new addition of the gloves had caused the habit to break.

But it was back now..

Janus sighed and looked down at his watch, he was late. He was never late. Never in their 6 mouths of dating had Logan Sanders been late.

Janus pulled his fingers away from his lips, grimacing at the bitten skin and the red nail beds. He slipped back on the gloves as the clock ticked slowly into the madness.

He leaned against the wall, glaring at the passage of time. His mind kept racing as he stumbled to come up with an explanation for why his lover was late to date night.

Did he pass out? No.. Logan never took naps during the day.

Did Patton need him for something? No.. They haven't been talking very much lately.

Thomas? Thomas was sleeping..

Then why the hell wa-

"JANUS!!!"

The side was broken from his thoughts with the shout of his boyfriend, blue and yellow bouquet in his hand. His suit ruffled from the panicked running.

Janus could only blink as the side stopped with panicked breaths in front of him.

"I severely apologize for my late timing! The clerk in the imagination ran out of yellow roses, and it then Virgil had a panic attack, and then Remus took my good tie, and then- mmph" Janus pulled the ruffled side in for a kiss

The yellow side pulled back, keeping the other close as he whispered lowly in his ear, "I'll forgive this horrible crime~" a smirk pulled at his lips, "as long as you also brought my favourite wine, my starshine~"

Logan flushed as he nodded his head slightly. Lifting a bottle of cherry wine with his other hand.

The yellow side beamed, "Well!" grabbing Logan's hand with slightly flushed cheeks, "I guess we better go then."

Logan nodded, clearing his throat, "As you wish."

"....D-did you just quote Princess Bride?" the yellow side's cheeks turned a beet colour as Logan shrugged

"blame Roman."

Janus let out a small laugh as he dragged hos boyfriend through the imagination door, "You're lucky I love you"

Logan smiled as he walked along side his boyfriend, "Yeah, I am." his hand sneakily checking his pocket to make sure that the ring box still sat in it's place.

Janus didn't need to know that he was late because he lost the ring and had to find it

Needless to say, they were a little more then boyfriends a few hours later.
