Prompt: “why do you always have to be such an asshole?”
“Dean, what did we just talked about yesterday?” Y/n questioned Dean.
Y/n stood by the door frame, starring Dean down with fiery eyes. Sam looked up from his book, one eyebrow raised and his eyes switching from and to y/n and Dean.
“Can’t recall, princess. Why don’t you remind me?”
Dean leaned back into his chair, whiskey in his hand and body slightly turned to see Y/n’s unamused face. Y/n took a step forward, squinting to see if he knew who exactly he is trying to play with right now.
“Don’t test me, Dean. I will cut you.”
Dean nodded into his drink, meanwhile Sam snorted a laugh but just as he did Y/n stared him down too. Sam mouth ‘sorry’ before putting his head back into his book.
“All I ask is that you don’t use my razor to shave your balls, okay?”
“Ay, I have facial hair?” Dean exclaimed. Sam trying his hardest to not react to this whole situation.
“Exactly, you do, so tell me where theses hairs are from since your facial hair is on your face!”
“She has a point, Dean.” Sam said, making Dean scoff.
Everyday when like that. Y/n and Dean butted heads at every chance they could get. Dean would ‘joke’ to that it’s all the sexual frustration they have for each other, which annoyed Y/n even more; which in turn entertained Dean. Sam was in the middle of it, well, he kept out of it as much as he could but here and there he’d stick up for Y/n. Sam knew Dean wasn’t taking this serious but Y/n was; she generally thought Dean didn’t like her and he was doing everything in his power to annoy her and try to get her to leave, at times Sam has had to stop her from leaving.
Y/n shook her head, throwing her arms in the air, giving up the fight and turning away to go to her room. She mumbled- ‘dickhead’.
Once Y/n had left and Sam heard her door slam shut, he leaned across the table to Dean while staying sitting down.
“Come on, man! Give her a break.” Sam pleaded.
Dean chuckled before sipping his whiskey- “She’s a big girl. She knows I’m only playing.”
Sam stayed quiet and gave Dean puppy eyes, his head tilting. Dean rolled his eyes, placing his drink down.
“Sammy, why are you taking this so seriously?” Dean moaned.
“Because she is!” Sam shouted and leaned back into his chair.
“It’s what people nowhere days call ‘Banter’. She knows this.”
“She does?” Sam questioned.
Sam was about to give up, sitting up from his seat and the book he was reading closed and loosely in his grip. And then he just had enough. It was time Dean knew everything because clearly he was truly clueless.
“Then why do I have to keep pursading her that you don’t hate her, that you don’t want her to leave and that you want her on our hunts?” Sam spat out harshly. His book pointed to Dean a couple of times.
Dean scoffed and then went serious when Sam’s face stayed stone cold.
Sam was the one to chuckle this time, not because it was a joke- but because he couldn’t believe his brother was dumb enough to not know.
“You know what, Dean...” Sam stopped to think about what he was going to say before he said something out of anger that he didn’t mean- “I think you should talk to her, properly.”
Sam was right and Dean knew this. Dean took Sammy’s advice and made his way to her bedroom. He stood outside for a second. He really needed to think about what he was going to say because if he fucks this up, both Sammy and Y/n are going to be pissed.
Before Dean could get a chance to knock, the door swung open, Y/n had a frown but didn’t realise Dean was standing outside till she saw his shoes after she opened the door. Dean brought his fist to his mouth, a cringe on his face. He pointed to her hair once Y/n looked up to him, her daggers digging into him.
“You put flour in my hair dryer...” Y/n said emotionless with a murderous look written on her face.
Dean faked a smile, and shrugged his shoulders not knowing how to start the conversation anymore. Y/n rolled her eyes and moved past him to go and take a second shower; she was done fighting; she’s leaving early tomorrow morning and it’s final. Dean panicked, he couldn’t let her believe he hated her or was doing these pranks out of meanness; he wouldn’t do that to her, specially her.
He grabbed hold of her hip.
“No no no-“ Dean repeated till Y/n stopped trying to walk away- “Come on-“
He nodded to her bedroom, y/n rolled her eyes again and lazily walked in to her room where Dean followed behind and closed the door so Sammy couldn’t hear.
“What do you want, Dean?” Y/n crossed her arms and turned around. There was something different about him that caught her off guard. A softness to his eyes. She tried to keep up her guard but her arms were starting to relax and she didn’t know why.
She stood dumbfound. Her mind going blank.
“What?” She half whispered.
“I thought the pranks and banter were back and too; I didn’t- I would never intentionally hurt you, y/n...”
He stepped closer, his arms reaching out almost.
“Why are you saying this?” Y/n asked. Was it a prank? Did Sammy say something?
“Sammy told me about how you thought I hated you and that you didn’t think I wanted to be around you.”
Ah, y/n thought. It’s Dean feeling guilty. How did he not realise? Y/n thought.
“You don’t believe me?” Dean asked.
“Because I wouldn’t lie! Why would I be here if I didn’t mean it?”
“If that’s the case then why do you have to be such an arsehole all the time?!” Y/n yelled.
Dean was now silent. Why did he?
“Well if you find out be sure to give me a call.”
A pain went through Dean’s chest. He couldn’t explain it. He was physically hurt, but he felt like she just crushed him.
“Tomorrow morning, you’ll never have to put up with me ever again.” Y/n told Dean coldly. But he could see the tears she’s fighting back. God, he truly hurt her.
“If I- if I knew what I was doing was hurting you- I would have stop a long time ago.”
“How could you have ever thought this wasn’t hurting me?”
“You put laxetives in my pie! I thought this was a challenge... You know like those prank channels where friends prank one and other back and forth!”
Y/n was starting to realise that maybe Dean was telling the truth. She giggled and then stopped but the more she thought about it, the more she couldn’t stop.
“What’s so funny?!” Dean asked.
“I put Laxetives in your pie because you put blue dye in my body shampoo.”
“Yeah well before that you covered my baby in memos!”
“Oh come on! Sammy helped with that one...”
“Oh yeah! And what about that time-“
Dean stopped short. Realising she stopped doing pranks months ago.
“I should’ve stopped when you did, I’m sorry.” Dean admitted.
“You really didn’t know did you?”
He shook his head. He stepped forward, running his hand through her hair to help shake some of the flour out before wiping away some off her cheek.
“I would never hurt the girl I’m in love with.”
“What?” Dean asked. He had only admitted his feelings because he thought no chance in hell would she ever love him back; espcially because of what he’s put her through these few months.
“Kiss me, Dean Winchester.”
The lady didn’t need to ask a third time. Dean brought her close and kissed her. Kissed her like it was the last time. Her hand wrapped around his neck and these sunk into one an other like it was natural. When their lips parted, their nose and forehead didn’t.
“What do you say I help you wash out the flour out of your hair? You know, just incase you use the wrong shampoo...”
She bit on her bottom lip, giggling. She nodded, leading the way. Dean mentally noting to try and not get caught binning one of the shampoo bottles on the shelf.
