it does feel especially evil when people use the relatively small population percentages of indigenous people as a way to dismiss our knowledge and ways of life because like. hey you know the reason our populations are so small right? you heard what happened to us did you not? you’ve considered the genocide?
and it's ESPECIALLY frustrating when institutions use this as a reason to not include us in policywork and decision making! like oh, less than X% of our users/patrons/clients/students are indigenous, so there isn't enough to "create a demand." they don't even hear themselves. you know why there's fewer of us, right?
you only count us so you know when you've finally finished killing every last one.
