La liaison française affecte la façon dont on parle et il faut apprendre les règles pour vraiment connaître la langue. Il existe 3 types de liaison : Obligatoire, Interdite, et Facultative. Voilà les règles pour chaque type. 

Liaison obligatoire (”_” montre où se trouve la liaison) 

Après : “aucun”, “aux”, “ces”, “des”, “les”, “quels”, “quelles”, “quelques”, “tout”, “un”, tous les nombres, et quelques adjectifs possessifs (”leurs”, “mes”, “mon”, “nos”, “ses”, “son”, tes”, “ton”, “vos”)

Je veux être un_acteur

Tu n’as que deux_enfants

Quand il y a un adjectif + un nom :

Vous êtes un grand_homme

Après : “on”, “nous”, “vous”, “ils”, “elles”

Ils_aiment manger

On_a des à faire

Dans la plupart des cas, après : “est” (du verbe être) et “ont” (du verbe avoir)

Here are many ways we cheer aloud in french! They are quite onomatopoeic (that was SO tough to write omg thank god I won a spelling bee in 6th grade)

Youpiiiii (a quite famous one) = Yaaaaaay

Hooraaaah = Hurraaaah

Ouaaaaais = Yeaaaah

Popopooooo (there’s no translation but people use it a lot in matches)

Wooooo = Woohoo

glazed doughnut : coffee drinker, handwritten notes, libraries, studying out loud, aesthetic photographs, lots of stationary 

jam doughnut : messy notes, disorganized, bursts of energy, sweet snacks to share, washi-tape 

chocolate doughnut : competitive studying, easily distracted, an iced drink in hand, doodling, double checking notes 

chocolate sprinkles doughnut : study groups, laughter, big sweaters, hot chocolate, travelling 

cinnamon twist : bullet journals, neat handwriting, always carries a notebook around, quiet, sweet 

Avoir la main verte = to have a green thumb 

Se mettre au vert = to get out into the countryside 

Un cordon bleu = a talented cook

Donner le feu vert = to give the green light

Passer une nuit blanche = not get a wink of sleep

Être blanc comme neige = to be innocent

Donner carte blanche = to give full permission 

Un rire jaune = a forced laugh

Être fleur bleue = to be sentimental

Avoir une peur bleue = to be scared stiff

Disclaimer: French people complain a lot. A lot. Don’t be surprised if 90% of these expressions are complaining.

Non mais oh - say this if someone does something mildly annoying and you want to express your shock and distaste.

Tu me fais chier - (alt. tu me fais chier, là.) literally ‘you make me shit’. means you’re pissing me off.

Carrément - translates to ‘squarely’. Means ‘literally’. If someone tells you something surprising or annoying, you can answer simply “ah carrément.” see: tu me fais carrément chier.

J’hallucine / je rêve - are you annoyed by something? say these.

C’est pas possible - a classic. anything bad happens - c’est pas possible. There is no cheese left? It’s not possible. I’m hallucinating. This is a burden on me that solely I can bear I cannot believe this is happening.

Ça commence à me gaver - I’m starting to get real sick of this. see: Ça commence carrément a me gaver là, putain.

T’es relou - verlan slang for ‘lourd’ meaning someone’s heavy, personality-wise. They’re tedious.

Ça me saoûle / ça me gonfle - similar to gaver, means something’s pissing you off, you’re sick of it.

Grave - totally.

C’est clair - totally/that’s clear. Like ‘claro’ in spanish. “Justine elle est trop relou” “C’est clair. Elle me fait chier.”

J’en ai marre - I’m sick of this.

J’en ai ras le bol - I’m sick of this.

J’en ai ras le cul - I’m sick of this (vulgar).

(J’en ai) Rien à battre - I don’t give a damn.

(J’en ai) Rien à foutre - I don’t give a fuck.

C’est bon, là. -  That’s enough.

Perso, euh, - “Personally,” generally used at the start of a complaining sentence, to express how personal the matter is to you. Perso, euh, c’est bon là. J’en ai ras le cul.

Rôh là - general expression of distaste. Le longer the rôh, the more annoyed you are. Rôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôôh, c’est quoi ce bordel.

C’est quoi ce bordel ? - translates to “what’s this brothel”, means “what’s this shit?!”

C’est de la merde - It’s shit.

C’est une blague ? - Is this a joke?

Idem - ditto

J’ai la dal - I’m hungry

Ça caille - It’s freezing

Ouf - two meanings 1. phew or 2. verlan for “fou”, meaning crazy (as a noun or adjective). “Kévin, c’est un ouf! Il fait du vélo sans casque!” “Ouais carrément, c’était un truc de ouf!”

Kévin - there’s a running joke that all the young delinquents seem to be called Kévin.

Crever - slang for “to die”. Va crever, connard!

Connard/Connasse - c*nt, but a lot less vulgar in french peoples eyes

And finally,

Tout d’un coup - Suddenly, all at once

Donner un coup de poing à qqn - To punch sb

Avoir un coup de bleus - To have the blues, to feel down

À coup sûr - Without fail, definitely

Tenir le coup - To hold up, to endure, to stay the course

Donner un coup de frein à qch - To put the brakes on sth

Tenter le coup - To give it a try 

Du premier coup - On the first try 

Avoir un coup de foudre pour qqn - To fall madly in love with sb

Avoir le coup pour faire - To know exactly how to do

Respirer un con coup - To take a deep breath

Coup de chaleur - Heatwave

Coup de soleil - Sunburn

Sous le coup de + émotion - In + emotion (Il l’a tapée sous le coup de la colère)

Sur le coup - In the heat of the moment, at that time
