An annoyance -

I’m trying to take a slightly more active role in communications responding to emails sent to both my boss and I, because he doesn’t always get to them, and I think he sort of wants me to answer on both of our behalf

In the past day he has called me after two emails and has been like “why’d you say that” LOL god help me

#I didn't even really say anything substantive #I just said 'we'll take a look at this and get back to you'#and he's like 'well why are we even being sent this never mind reviewing it'#and i'm like idk man but I feel like me saying 'we'll review' and then later coming back like 'hey we've reviewed and we're unclear #on the purpose of this' is fine lol #so i'm just annoyed with him being like well why'd you respond like 'yeah we'll look at it'#uh because we will look at it?#personal

Send help, I got 2 b-'s in my last semester of law school and I'm way too concerned about how it'll reflect on me in job hunting and interviews after the bar exam >.>'

Omg okay so my response to this question is always to tell people that my law school didn’t even have grades and I still got four job offers in a single week lmao. So like, if people are willing to hire me without even knowing my grades at all, I imagine someone will want to hire you with two B’s in your final semester when you’ve switched to bar prep mode!!

Maybe this response is unhelpful lol but I do feel like it’s a good marker that grades aren’t all employers care about, despite what our law schools want us to think!!! Play up your other good credentials and experiences and you’ll be fine :)

#my school did pass-honors scale grades so we didn’t have NO grades #but the school didn’t translate those marks into number grades so I don’t have a gpa to write on my resume or tell employers #and it was fine!#i am not in big law (I’m in mid law? regional firm with 70 attorneys)#but i have a lot of friends who went on to work for the largest firms in the city from the same school!

Nothing quite like reviewing the medical records of people suing for emotional distress and realizing your own anxiety medication prescription is significantly higher than theirs

I’ve so far had a...weird experience at work. Everyone has told me my firm is a busy firm, all of my co-workers have told me how busy they are. I have been here four months and am struggling to find enough to do. I was constantly asking my boss for work to the point where we had a conversation about it and he told me not to worry about my hours just yet, I’m still new so I’m not expected to be billing crazy amounts. So instead I am billing like...at a maximum three hours a day...

#I keep waiting for either (1) someone to yell at me because I’m not billing enough or (2) my workload to suddenly get crazy #and neither has happened yet #i keep talking to my boss about my hours because I’m worried about them lol but i mean #i figure nobody can get angry with me about it if i stay on top of asking for assignments #but we’ll see about that #for the non-lawyers or not yet lawyers - every time you do client work you’re supposed to bill for it #so I was told my firm would expect me to Bill 8 hours a day (most firms have official requirements mine doesnt but #there’s still an expectation that I’m billing as much as possible)#but i haven’t had literally any work lol so I’ve truly done like 1-3 hours of work a day for the last month #really waiting for the other shoe to drop here #personal

Held off on posting for a while because I had 69 posts in my drafts and thought that was funny because I am 12 deep down Dunkin made avocado toast and I took photos of it because I run a roast Instagram now (lmao). It was...average! Very lemony. Probably something I’d order again because I like avocado toast have lower standards when I’m out and hungry, but it’s obviously nowhere near as good as real avo toast

Guys I have this inbox system in my personal email where I archive basically all emails I think of as “inactive” and only keep “active” emails in the inbox - so reservations, tickets, travel information, online shopping orders that haven’t been delivered yet, that kind of stuff. And let me just say, the inbox is popping 👏🏻 off 👏🏻 lately like WOW things are HAPPENING in the summer of 2021

WOW a day of good news - my office had a call today that I was positive was going to be a “come back to the office” call, but it was actually a “we’re not planning on changing the hybrid model call”
