can we please talk about how the most miserable people on this website have such a backwards-ass idea of how to deal with intrusive thoughts. like, "it's only an intrusive thought if you perform exactly how disgusted you are by it!!" this is The opposite of what they tell you to do like actually. if you spend all your time wringing your hands over every single bad thought you have that only reinforces it!!!! you need to let it go. it's a thought it cannot hurt you and it isn't what makes you. and you don't need to performatively retch over how despicable the thought may be to an imagined jury. It Doesn't Matter. It's A Thought. Not An Action. And No Simply Saying It Aloud Or Writing It In A Journal Or Posting It To Your Blog Or Writing A Story Doesn't Make It Any More Real Either. I really think we should stop saying "kid-friendly" and start saying "ad-friendly". We shouldn't indulge these companies and their excuses anymore. I also think that continuing to pretend that this is about "protecting the children" pushes a lot of the blame onto kids and teens, who don't have the political power to push through any of this censorship legislature. Corporations and governments are to blame.
