I am grateful that my parents were not abysmally cruel to me as a default, but sometimes I wish they had been. it would be so much easier for them to have been one thing each. one mother. one father. I wouldn't have needed a revolving door of selves to keep up with every face of theirs. maybe I would not still feel the aching desire to feel the love of my parents again, because it was there. it is there. expressed in normal, selfless ways, even.

I will never truly reconcile that with what was done to me.

#my mother... did her best. I know that.#and it was part of “normal” life so it wasn't hidden away like the times she struck or grabbed/restrained us were.#most of us know that our mother hurts us and controls us. controlled us.#but she still did the best that she was capable of as an incredibly harried and unhealed mother of 3 children #all of whom were autistic/adhd and two with serious behavioral issues #her capacity was just... very low sometimes.#my father?#I dont know.#I just. I don't know. I'm trying to scrape together some kind of cohesion out of what I feel and all I am receiving is tears welling up #I love him despite everything and that makes me feel insane and hysterical because that shouldn't be true #I wish he had been an unloving uncaring father #or a cruel person
