I went ahead and did a 2nd piece for this prompt because the more I thought about this scene, the more I think it's crazy that in my silly attorney game, there's a scene where the two attorneys are going 'if it comes down to it, we'll die together'. OK I think what drives me a bit crazy with this trial is that Phoenix is taking the co-counsel spot. The difference between this and him defending Maya and Ahlbi under the DC Act, is that for the other two, he was the only defense. If he didn't defend them, they would have had no defence at all. Of course, even if there were other defence attorneys in Khura'in, I think he would have defended them. But it's clear that, either way, for them, braving the DC Act was directly linked to being a defence attorney But here, Apollo IS the defence. The defence attorney's duty is being fulfilled already! And Phoenix does trust in Apollo's skills, he tells him this repeatedly in SoJ. But despite this, he decides to brave the DC Act one more time, just to stick with Apollo, to give him support. He's ready to stake his own life on this. That's kind of crazy to me. (and he forbids Athena from joining them! so he IS in the mindset of wanting to avoid the risk of people dying. and yet, he himself is okay with dying with Apollo if it comes down to it?) It's a crazy scene with a crazy concept, and it's just stupidly romantic, I can't believe turnabout revolution is an odonaru fanfic
