I want to start writing. I dont know what. But I want to get more of my ideas down through text and on paper. I've been inspired by Zora Neale Hurston's beautiful way of writing. But also, journaling everyday has only expanded that desire. It's interesting - I used to avoid journaling because it would cause all my pent up emotions (that I've worked very hard to contain) to rise to the surface.
But maybe now that I am journaling every single day about the mundane, it feels kinda good. To just write freely.
And there's a thought that my writing will only become better. My thoughts will only become more precise as I work to write them out everyday. Rather than just holding them in my brain.
I read a excerpt in Zora Neale Hurtson's book Their Eyes Were Watching God that really really really resonated with me.
“There is a basin in the mind where words float around on thought and thought on sound and sight. Then there is a depth of thought untouched by words, and deeper still a gulf of formless feelings untouched by thought.”
Man,
Sometimes I feel like my words are in a basin. Just floating, as I search and find which ones evoke the thoughts I am looking to express. Sometimes it trips me up, and I catch myself pausing in conversations, just searching for the words. And some people think I am done speaking and interject. But I was never done! I was just searching. Browsing.
So maybe my writing will improve that. And maybe it'll help me to tap into myself. And express myself freely. I've always loved writing too. For as long as I could remember. Always eager to dissect the reading in school, always writing stories on the family computer when i was little, always keeping a notebook to write love songs in loll. I recently found one of those notebooks the other day.
Why did I ever stop writing?!
I'm back now.
Es solo que cuando siento, siento mucho.
the holy trinity.
