2015 Subaru Forester CVT replacement due to roaring noise while driving. Probably didn’t help that the incorrect fluid was installed.
I had a question. I’m pretty new to Subaru’s and am learning them. On my 2001 Outback I’m burning a lot of oil and also it’s starting to overheat, it’s not getting super hot but getting close to it. It’s just in short drives like when I sit in traffic going from work on these super hot summer days. She also has been warming up fast when I start driving to work, etc. I’ve been reading and it appears to maybe be head gaskets. Should I take it to a shop or is it something I could do?
These symptoms are pretty common for leaking head gaskets. Another common symptom is the odor of exhaust gas in the coolant overflow reservoir. It’s almost inevitable to have to replace head gaskets on nearly all non-turbo Subarus. I would recommend taking the vehicle to a shop, seeing as head gasket replacement is rather extensive; the engine is typically removed. If you’re located out of Colorado, I’d gladly offer my help. Valve springs can make or break the engine. 2015 Crosstrek valve spring failure. Took out cylinders #1 & 2. One valve, takes out two cylinders. Yes the valve face is embedded in the head and he engine would still run 🤣
