Being a normal Asgardian citizen must be so crazy for the first Thor movie. Like. You’re a normal person. Maybe you sell your wares at the market or something. Raise goats. But it’s your wonderful prince Thor’s coronation today and it’s so fun and grand and you’re going to celebrat- oh hold on. Hold on. No wait the coronation is cancelled. Somebody tells you that frost giants snuck into Asgard but that’s like so crazy you don’t believe it. Prince Thor probably got sick from nerves or something. Anyway you’re upset about the lack of feasting but it’s FINE you go home and- prince Thor disappears. Like he’s just gone now. Oh he’s banished??? For what. For going to JOTUNHEIM?? That’s crazy. Why would he do that? Anyway you have wares to peddle so- the All-Father’s in the Odinsleep now. That can’t be true, you have it marked down on your calendar that it’s supposed to be next month. Oh he is? Okay fine. Loki’s king now? Okay sure. He’s not as perky but he’ll do or whatever. He’ll do fine probably, it’s just until the All-Father wakes up and prince Thor comes back. Probably. And then the Bifrost is gone. It’s just gone now. King Loki was coronated and now the Bifrost is gone and by the way King Loki is dead now. No they don’t have his body it went with the Bifrost. The All-Father is back and so is Thor though so that’s something. It’s been 3 days.

Summary: He knew, vaguely, that Loki had been a friend in fighting against Hela, and they had been sharing meal-times for a few days so he wasn’t… nefarious—at the moment, at least—but it was a novelty that he could stand there calmly at all. He supposed after being stuck as Hulk for years he didn’t have the capacity for this to touch his heart rate. It was just Loki.
“Bruce,” Loki acknowledged, lowering his head in some gesture that felt too formal for a visit in the middle of the night.
An awkward beat of silence, where Bruce sorely considered asking what he was doing here; if it wasn’t an emergency, work could wait until morning.
“I was wondering if I could stay the night.”

the character is not alive or dead but a secret third thing (being ruined by canon)
I'd honestly prefer Sylvie to be more on the unstable side. As she is in the show, she doesn't make sense. We're told that she grew up - raised herself - in apocalypses, was constantly on the run and watching her back, and had no friends or family. But no one comes out of a situation like that mostly okay, just kinda sad and wanting revenge, then getting a job at McDonald's. It would be insanely traumatizing and the show does an incredibly poor job of showing that.
I couldn't agree more, they tell us she's traumatized but we never get to see that trauma.
It's like they want her to have a sad backstory because they think that's what makes a character interesting and complex, but since her whole deal is to be "superior to Loki" and a "badass" that means she can't show any vulnerability or weakness - and they're so foolish that they think a traumatized character is weak.
When she returns to the TVA she should be nervous and afraid. When she sees Renslayer again she should have a panic attack. When she's talking about Asgard she should have tears in her eyes or she should get mad for no reason. We should see a lot of emotional responses and like you say a whole lot of instability because she was never raised in a stable home and her whole life was spent around people destined to die. That is one hell of a backstory!!
Psychologically and emotionally that has to mess with you in so many ways and yet she seems to be the same in all episodes. She is sassy to B-15, she's all smug in her room right after being arrested, she speaks to Renslayer like it's no big deal, her entire characterization is mean and cold except for two very, very short scenes... It sucks because she has a lot of potential, she could have been such a fantastic character.... ugh Waldron 🤦♀️
If anything I'd say the only moment she acts like she should is in ep6 with HWR. She attacks and attacks and attacks even though he dodges her every time.
don’t mind me. im just thinking about the fact that even with the Other’s claws in his mind and the scepter amplifying his worst and most violent impulses, Loki still starts actually crying on the top of Stark tower when Thor tells him to look at the destruction around him

still sad that Thor never has to deal with the fact that the frost giants he killed weren’t mindless monsters but people just like the brother he cares about so much and that, but for a quirk of fate, Loki himself might have been one of the Jotnar that Thor slaughtered on a whim while laughing and enjoying himself
I think what disappointed me the most about the loki series is the sheer volume of quality source material and jumping off points to tell a genuinely groundbreaking story about identity, and having the writers touch NONE of it in favour of a convoluted and heavy handed metaphor about self love
They even had the concept of variants RIGHT THERE, like that is a dream storytelling scenario for exploring different facets of a characters identity, and the writers barely scratched the surface
Like the whole question of 'what if this one thing was different, how does that change you? How much of someone is their experiences and how much is immutable and unchanging? What is your True Self if so many versions of you exist, and does it even matter?' just, isn't there
Really not a fan of the new trend in the mcu that puts asgardians in regular human clothes it's boring and makes the films and tv shows look cheap in comparison like heaven forbid the norse gods look like norse gods
They wear human clothes and they speak like humans and their magic is completely gone and there are no odd customs to speak of and their humour is exactly the same as the other humans...
If you put an Asgardian and a human side to side now you wouldn't be able to tell who's human and who isn't. That's not how you do it.
that’s disney in a nutshell these days. no wonder. no magic. no artistry. no emotion. no point to care. the og thor franchise offered us a shakespearean tragedy set in a land of magic alien space vikings. science fantasy at its finest. now it offers us something we could see if we looked out the window. what’s the point?

society if infinity war had loki being blasted to earth whereafter he had to directly assemble the avengers to fight a threat alongside them, which paralleled his role in the first movie, because he’s the only person in the movie intimately familiar with thanos and his motives but also has the dubious honour of familiarity with the avengers and would’ve therefore served as a great exposition tool besides gamora, and his arc would’ve been an inverse of thor’s in avengers 2012, where he deals with the metaphorical question of whether his brother is truly lost to him, except loki has to deal with the literal question of whether his brother still lives, and just when he thinks he’s gotten his brother back (thor hoping loki would turn when he shows a momentary flash of terror atop stark tower) the impermanent nature of their reunion hits him resoundly in the head as either of them turns to dust.
