The creature outside my window that has been building a nest all week finally had a baby!
@stuckinuniformdevelopment
(prev) “Thanks,” Theodore said as he gratefully accepted the bottle. He only drunk what he needed to make his pills go down before glancing at Autumn and whispering, “Please don’t tell anyone about my medical issues…” Then he nested up in his corner with his few remaining belongings to keep anyone else from taking them. Once Amy was back in her cell he took off his useless shirt, folded it up, and used it as a pillow to make his stay slightly more comfortable.
“Sure,” Autumn gave in response to Teddy’s request, a sure that notoriously meant nothing.
When they guided Amy to the torture room for the commode, they took the precaution of holding her arms behind her back, which proved to be useful because each time she passed Bowtie’s cell she did try to lunge at him, as if she could get beyond the bars. She did manage to loudly kick the bars before Autumn wrestled her away. But everything settled down when she was back in her cell. Fortunately for Bowtie, she fell asleep by the time her voice returned to her.

(Previous) “Sure. I’ll be back, then,” Autumn responded with a nod. They picked up the basket and walked off. “Hey girl, you need anything?” Autumn could be heard asking Amy. After a few silent seconds, they said, “Bathroom? Alright, wait ‘til I get back.” She continued up the stairs. After about five minutes, Autumn returned to the dungeon. They first walked over to Theodore’s cell and offered a small water bottle through the bars. “Alright, here ya go.”
“Thanks,” Theodore said as he gratefully accepted the bottle. He only drunk what he needed to make his pills go down before glancing at Autumn and whispering,

(Previous) The joke was completely lost on Autumn. “The concern is you poisoning yourself,” she bluntly retorted. “But sure.” They dug around the basket to fetch the sleep medication, read the recommended dosage, and handed it to Theodore accordingly. “Anything else before I leave for the night?”
Theodore furiously glared at Autumn and shook his head as he grumbled, “Like hell I would...”
Of course he knew the answer. That’s why he tried to deflect. He was tempted to say no, he didn’t need anything else, simply to get them out of his site.
Then he sighed and accepted his medication. He knew the dangers of dry swallowing pills. “Water, please.”

(Previous) The moment Theodore rushed to the bars to get Autumn’s attention, she knew what it was about. Of course they had examined what medication he was taking. They’d be nervous about going cold turkey on such a high dose of antidepressants, too. She let Theodore panickedly stumble through his words, interested in what he had to say about it, though it wasn’t much. “Believe me, I know,” Autumn replied, putting their hands on their hips. “I’ll bring ‘em to you as needed. What’s your routine? Morning or night?”
Theodore instantly relaxed despite consciously reminding himself that he shouldn’t trust Autumn any more than the other Glornists. What if they tampered with his medication?
Well, as much as he didn’t like the idea of letting his prescription drugs leave his sight there weren’t any better alternatives.
After a moment he weakly smiled as he attempted to lighten the mood with a joke. “What, worried that I’ll poison Amy from here?”
Then Theodore’s expression went back to its serious default and he made extra-sure to keep his voice low. “I take my antidepressants around 8 am and my sleeping medication in the evening.”
After a moment he asked, “Actually, could I take them now?” It was around seven, wasn’t it? “May as well go to bed while she's muted.”

(Previous) Autumn promptly got to work going through Theodore’s stuff. The first thing they went for was his wallet, opening it up and snooping through it. She examined a picture of the brothers before counting out what cash he had. She flipped through his cards and examined his ID. They found it curious that his Skullship IDs weren’t in there. Were they somewhere else? Autumn tossed the wallet in the basket, deciding to only empty it if Theodore was killed in the upcoming fight. There wasn’t much that was spared. He couldn’t have all of his medication with him. A first aid kit was unnecessary as the Glornch would provide care should he somehow get hurt before the fight. She confiscated his notebooks to look through them later, save for his Glorble study notebook. That, his Glorble, and a stick of deodorant were all that was afforded to him. Though there was a neat pen Theodore had, multi-colored and it appeared he customized it with a little effigy of himself. It was fascinating; Autumn was tempted to keep it to show to the others, but an unfortunate sense of mercy overtook her and they let him keep that too, not before carefully unscrewing the tip to see if anything was hidden in there, but it was in the clear. Besides, he needed something to write Glorble notes with. Autumn let Theodore out of the torture room when he gave the cue. She couldn’t help but smirk when they saw the uniform wasn’t a good fit. They offered an apologetic smile when they took his original clothes. “Maybe there’s a load of laundry I’ll throw these in with tonight and get these back to you later,” she quietly offered. Then they led him back to his cell, locking the door behind him.
When Theodore saw Autumn’s smirk he glowered at her as he firmly stretched his shirt past his waist. Their smile wasn’t any better: With the mood he was in it only looked condescending. Then they brought up washing his clothes and he relaxed.
“I’d appreciate it,” Theodore said with a weary smile even if he wasn’t sure they were just getting his hopes up or not.
It was probably genuine with how she offhandedly said it without any solid promises. Still... he couldn’t count on their (at least seemingly) amicable relationship to mean anything here.
The first thing Theodore did when he returned to his cell was check what passed inspection. His cool 10 color shuttle pen was a surprise— and he was grateful for the deodorant— but...
He rushed back to the bars to whisper-yell to Autumn, “Wait!” His eye was uncharacteristically widened in fear and anxiety hung on his tone.
There was a prolonged silence. Now that Theodore thought about it, he wasn’t sure exactly how he should explain his predicament to one of the Glornch’s biggest gossips. He rubbed his thumbs on the tightly gripped bars as he sputtered,
“What about... my meds? I- well-”
Theodore took a deep breath before letting out a long, frustrated exhale. “Physically can’t go without them, y’know? Or-” He clutched his head as he struggled to think.
“At least... not without, erm...” How could he word it in terms the Glornists gave a shit about? “Look... it’d be a boring fight, alright? Real boring. Like...”
He spread his arms wide while making direct eye contact for emphasis. “Probably enough to get everyone smited!”
@bishop-percival
(Previous) Autumn unlocked and opened the cell door for Theodore, glancing at the piles. “I’ll go through it, but I can’t promise you can keep much,” they replied with a shrug. She led him a few steps across the hall to the solid iron door of the torture room, unlocked it, and pushed it open. “Knock when you’re done and I’ll let you out,” Autumn informed Theodore. The torture room was dark and dank. Chains and meat hooks hung from the ceiling, and the floor had a large drain built into it. It was largely empty, as the torture gadgets were locked up in large cabinets. There were larger devices such as a rack, pillory and iron maiden, but they were either locked up or not set up. On one side of the wall was a hose, a sink, and indeed in the corner was a grimy, nasty toilet.
Theodore was relieved that Autumn didn’t follow him in. That meant no torture. For now. He listened for any sign of someone hiding inside as he pushed his dread aside in favor of focusing on his most pressing issue: That nasty toilet.
After a minute of of washing the seat with toilet paper, hand soap, and sink water it seemed... well, as clean as it'd get without disinfectant or a brush. He cleaned the sweat off himself with the same method as he made sure he wouldn’t have to come back anytime soon. Who knows when or if he’d get a shower.
After around ten minutes Theodore knocked on the door to tell Autumn that he was ready. He smelled a bit nicer, yet looked far sillier with his ill-fitting uniform. His upper lid was visibly furrowed in frustration as he struggled to get his baggy shirt to cover his stomach.
Theodore’s clothes were stashed under his arm, including a pair of boxers with even more pockets.
@bishop-percival
(Previous) Autumn handled Theodore’s lab coat with caution, as if dubious needles or whatever could be poking out, and put it in the basket, same with the boots. Afterwards, they regained a polite smile and handed Theodore the new clothes through the bars. Then they set the basket down, saying, “Either here or I can show you to the torture room. There’s a toilet in there too if you need to go.”
Theodore was aware of how cautious Autumn was around him and turned his uniform pockets inside-out in a show of good faith. There was nothing but traces of lint trapped in the corners. Then he returned their polite smile.
At first he was apprehensive of the idea of going in the torture room. But once she mentioned a toilet and he let out a relieved sigh. It was worth the risk. Not that he was any safer in the cell anyways.
“Yes please,” Theodore said as he warily approached the cell door. Then he reached for his bowtie only to remember that he wasn’t wearing it and awkwardly rubbed the back of his head instead. He knew he was being a rather demanding prisoner but...
“May I please keep a few items?” He gestured at the two small piles in the corner.
@bishop-percival
(Previous) Autumn stared at the piles, hesitating to enter the cell. “I… You already had ten minutes… How the hell do you carry all this crap on you?” They retrieved a piece of paper from her pocket, eyed it over, then sighed and shook their head “Sorry, no. Let me see whatever else you’re carrying now or I’m just gonna go get Miriam.” Her voice was firm and expression was stern. She didn’t trust what else he had in his pockets, especially after learning how he took out Sam. Mike had divulged the details to her the night Amy attacked him.
“Little bit of space compression tech, lots of pockets...”
Theodore’s shoulders sunk as removed his lab coat and reluctantly passed it through the bars. Then he added his gloves, boots, & helmet to the "necessary" pile while averting his eye.
After a moment he doubled back to grab his steel-toed boots for Autumn as well.
“Do you want me to just... strip here?” Theodore he asked he looked to see if there were any curtains for him to hide behind (despite heavily doubting it.)

(Previous) Once Miriam was gone, a loud metallic bang came from the other end of the jail. Amy was kicking her cell bars to tell Bowtie she was still there, still bloodthirsty, but evidently couldn’t speak. She went back to attacking the punching bag, quicker and louder than before. After about ten minutes, footsteps started coming from the stairwell. “Heeey Amy,” Autumn’s voice could be heard. Another loud clang followed. “Oh, did she mute you again? Figures,” they said rather unsympathetically before searching the cells for the new prisoner. Once she came upon him, she forced a smile and chimed, “Heeey Theodore.” Autumn was carrying a basket with clothes. They eyed Theodore’s belongings. Some of the stuff looked… rather interesting. “Oh! Okay good, I see you’ve sorted your things. May I enter?”
Fortunately, Theodore was good at ignoring people. The Glornch’s only silver lining was that it made him build up a tolerance for bullshit. Amy wouldn’t get a reaction anytime soon.
By the time Autumn arrived Theodore had only partly finished organizing the contents of his overstuffed pockets. He rushed to finish as soon as possible since he doubted that they’d allow it.
“May I please have more time to get everything in order?”
There were two visible piles in the corner despite Theodore’s attempt to block them from view. One pile had items such as medication, a glass cleaning kit, his first aid kit, his wallet, and his Glorble study supplies for evil brownie points. The other primarily contained items that were only valuable to him (or simply time killers) including his remaining mini notebooks, writing utensils, distinctive bowtie, toiletries, and a slightly outdated phone.
Much of his remaining belongings simply got switched to another pocket. If Autumn managed to catch a glimpse during their brief emergence she’d see more interesting treasures like a bright green vial or tightly compressed black packet amidst a bunch of odds and ends.
@bishop-percival
(Previous) Miriam pocketed the phone and shrugged. “Maybe. Depends on who you ask.” She then sighed and took a step back. She made a circle with her pointer and thumb, then looked at Dr. Walters through it, eying him up and down. Afterwards she got out a small notebook and jotted something down. As she did, she said, “Autumn will be in soon with new clothes for you to wear. I suggest you get your belongings in order before you hand them over to her. They’ll keep them safe.” She glanced up at Dr. Walters. “Don’t make me come back. I’ll just toss everything out.”
When Reverend Miriam started making strange hand gestures Doctor Walters tilted his head. Was she about to cast a spell? Or was she just measuring him?
“My measurements are-” There wasn’t enough time to cut in before she spoke again. Maybe it was for something else? He didn’t see the point in taking them herself.
Doctor Walters nodded along until she was done. Then he gave her a thumbs up and said, “Noted.”
Once she was gone he worked on sorting his possessions into several groups: Absolutely necessary, ask to keep, discretely pass to Autumn, and items he could bear permanently losing.
Well... there was one item that needed special treatment: His keycard. Thankfully the CAPT Project key had already been deactivated and given to Bert as a memento for safe keeping. The other, however, was both active and far more critical to the Hater Empire.
There was only surefire one way to dispose of it... Doctor Walters searched the jail for a spyder cam. Once he saw it he made sure to smirk at it before turning away from Amy and cracking it into several pieces.
Then he swallowed it and put his hand on his mouth as he resisted the urge to spit them out. The texture was bad enough. The flavoring added to keep people from eating them, on the other hand, was almost unbearable....
@bishop-percival
(Previous) Miriam responded by saying nothing and tightening her grip. She wouldn’t put it past Dr. Walters to try to pull some desperate move. He didn’t need his arms to walk to the dungeon, anyway. As the two descended into the dungeon, a repetitive wham-sort of noise could be heard. Miriam opened the door to the cells and steered Dr. Walters in. Occupying the first cell to the right was Amy, throwing jabs at a punching bag that was apparently afforded to her. When she heard the two come in, she whipped around to see. One look at Bowtie sent her rushing toward the bars that contained her. Miriam quickly ushered him away as Amy violently tried to reach out and grab him, growling like a wild animal. Unsuccessful in grabbing him, she gripped the bars and shouted, “THERE YOU ARE YOU SON OF A BITCH! YOU COWARD! YOU’RE DEAD! YOU’RE SO DEAD!” Miriam placed Dr. Walters in the last cell to the left and locked it up tight. She was going to say something, but it was hard to hear herself when Amy was continually shouting threats. Miriam walked away for a brief moment. There was a flash of bright pink light which, whatever it was, shut Amy up. Miriam trotted back. She reached her hand into Dr. Walters’ cell. “Phone.”
Doctor Walters sighed and searched his surroundings. Unfortunately, he didn’t have any desperate moves that would even make one iota of a difference. All he wanted was to regain a bit of dignity before other Glornists could spot him.
Being imprisoned where nobody could find him was bad enough. But then he heard noises from the cells and couldn’t help but freeze. Shit. Someone else was there. Dread bore heavily on his heart.
The sight of Amy confirmed his worst fears. Walters tried to remain impassive as she menaced him, yet when she charged at him he found himself flinching and stepping on Reverend Miriam’s toes. He muttered as apology as he quickly got off her feet.
Doctor Walters let Reverend Miriam lock him up, just glad that she didn’t search his pockets. When she asked for his phone he pulled it out, then paused short of handing it over.
After a moment of hesitation he complied. He trusted that Bert would wipe it before it could get hacked. Then he asked, “Could I have a punching bag too?”
@bishop-percival
(Previous) Bishop Percival widened his eye to look surprised. “Any of us?” He glanced at Bowtie. “Huh, I was right.” He then directed Miriam to head back toward the portal. She took one last cautious glance at Freddy before steering Theodore away. Percival began walking backwards, and with a faux-forlorn sigh he said, “I’d tell you, I’d even invite you to watch, but I’ve been advised that it would be a bad idea.” With a spritely turn he sauntered back to the portal, cackling all the way. Once he was back in his chamber and the portal was closed, Percival announced, “Well that went swimmingly! We—” He was about to say how they didn’t even need Mike’s stupid attempt to offer a peaceful surrender, but with Bowtie in tow, he thought of a better thing to say. “We couldn’t have done it without Two-Eyes!” Miriam was half-paying attention, looking into the crystal ball. It was still viewing Mike. He was still at the rock he ducked behind earlier, panickedly looking back and forth like he was calculating whether he should run or not. Miriam glanced at the bishop. “Well are you gonna go get him?” she asked. “Don’t worry, I will,” he said with an eye roll as if he was asked to do a menial chore. He then fanned his hand at her. “Go show Bowtie his cell, huh?” Miriam stared at him for a moment before he waved her away again, to which she pushed Theodore along, out of the chamber. Percival stepped up to the crystal ball and watched with a grin on his face.
Teddy shook his head to show Freddy that he wasn’t buying the bullshit Percy spewed to drive them apart. That should be all that mattered. He caught Percy's glance and returned it with a glare.
Yet Percy didn’t manage to get his hackles completely raised until he taunted Freddy about the ritual itself. He stiffened in anger, with his fingers practically digging into his hands.
Of course, there was nothing Bowtie could do with that anger but stew in it as he let Reverend Miriam direct his movements. He didn’t even give a damn about whatever Bishop Percival decided not to say. At this point all that mattered was getting away from him before he did something stupid.
Once the door was shut Bowtie flatly asked, “Reverend, may I please have my arms back?”
(Meanwhile, on the other side of the portal...)
@stuckinuniformdevelopment
After about a month of nothing but a thumbs-up in response to hearing that the ritual was ready, Teddy texted Gaap.
[text] I got a life sentence.
[text] Goodbye and good luck.
Gaap stared at the message on his phone, a pit in his stomach, for the first time since he'd left home his mind began to race, Teddy was basically his first friend, and a great one too! The idea of never seeing him again made him feel almost sick. He didn't bother to text back, he didn't imagine it would make a difference. A selfish part of Gaap was maybe kind of glad then that he had no doubt Teddy wouldn't be able to escape Percy and the Glornch that easily, life sentence or no. So he tried to stamp down his dread, and instead focus on doing some plotting of his own, of a minimally consequential way to turn the match in Teddy's favour, and a good line to say in the event he got caught, he was sure cheating was ultimately a virtue here, regardless he'd do his best to see Teddy survives his fate.

@necromancer-gaap [Text] So marginally good news, mostly bad news [Text] I found out what the plan is, Percy seemed very eager to tell me about it, which I guess is a bonus, he divulges things to me and doesn't seem to think I'm worth keep secrets from [Text] Also he started complaining about how he thinks you're a coward for going into hiding, but frankly what else should you do when a murderer is trying to hunt you down? [Text] Anyhow, Percy is planning to have you fight Amy in a pit ritual, loser gets fed to a demon.

[Text] Probably best for him not to know we're chatting, otherwise I would [Text] and of course, I'd rather you don't get fed to a demon so I'll keep you informed as much as I can [Text] and sounds good, hopefully it goes the way you want, though Imma be honest I think it'll probably be a moot point, I've seen Percy tear holes in the fabric of spacetime from Mati to his office, if he wants to get at you I can't imagine you can keep him out.
[text] True.
[text] I’ll still do what I can.
[text] He has to find me first.
[text] I’m rooting for you
[text] both out and in the pit if you end up there.
[text] Thank you.
[text] Is the set-up already complete?
[text] I think they’re still sorting a thing or two out but it’s probably close, so they’ll probably be coming to find you soon enough.
[text] Let me know when its complete.
[text] Sure thing, anything else?
[text] Don’t get caught talking to me.
[text] I don't plan to, no worries, I won't be getting myself in any trouble if I can help it.
