And the circus job! No one can tell me that the entire crew wouldn’t get in on the circus job and be really into it.

Parker as an acrobat trying to get used to the idea that people are supposed to see her when she’s performing, and then getting into it and loving the applause when she does something extra fancy and death-defying with her ropes.

Eliot randomly is an expert at fire-juggling, because of course he is. He performs shirtless. The crowd goes wild. Never has there been so much thirst in a single room.

Sophie as the fortune teller. Sophie as the fortune teller who’s way too good at her job and has to tone it down a little bit because she’s freaking people out. She also does the knife-throwing act with Eliot, posing beautifully while he throws knives around her. She knows he’ll never miss.

Nate, of course, is the barker. “Step right up, step right up. See the beautiful, the death-defying…”

Meanwhile Hardison is behind the scenes bringing the technology into the 21st century. The light show to go along with the choreography has never been more beautiful, the sound system has never been so good, and the rigging has never been more safe. Also there are bugs everywhere so he can listen in and catch the bad guy, but that’s almost secondary.

In the end Eliot gets to fight the circus strong man, Sophi out-cons the bad guy, and the plan comes together like puzzle pieces falling into place right at the end so you can hardly believe it worked. Just like a good performance should.

They give the circus back to its tearfully grateful original owner and drive off into the sunset–ready to con another day.

Like in The Scheherazade Job. How even though they are mid-con, they all stop to hear Hardison’s solo. The emotions on their faces, the way everything stops. It’s beautiful and heartfelt and so right in how they are as a team.

Then in The Studio Job, just a few episodes later, it happens again. After they realize that Eliot can actually sing, they just pause again. It’s not as emotional, more like they are all proud of Eliot.

The way they go to Sophie’s acting gigs, despite the fact they know its going to be horrible, because Sophie wants them there.

Have you ever been to a pond with ducks, geese, and swans, and seen birds that look like this? Like some of their wing feathers are swept outward? This is a visual sign of why you should not feed bread to ducks and geese.

This condition has the misleadingly lovely name of “angel wing” and it is an actual deformity of the wing, making the last joint of the “wrist” bend outward. This is what causes the feathers to sweep outward. It makes the bird unable to fly, and usually leads to an early death. It is incurable in adults, but young birds found early can sometimes be rehabilitated with wing-wrapping and an improved diet.

The cause of angel wing is not completely clear but birds that have it are lacking in certain important vitamins and minerals that are consistent with eating a lot of bread. Bread is a very high carbohydrate junk food that fills up birds quickly and gives them no reason to forage for their normal diet. They usually eat vegetation, like grasses and aquatic plants, which gives them the nutrients that are lacking in the birds that develop angel wing. 

What does this mean if you want to feed the ducks at your local pond? The best thing to feed them would be a thawed bag of frozen veggies. You can usually buy a store brand bag for the equivalent cost of a cheap loaf of bread. And unlike bread, uneaten veggies don’t promote the same algae blooms and bacterial/fungal growths if left in the pond. It’s better for the birds and better for their environment, too.
