Money. they are in the red right now! this is not a workable set-up for them! so either they're gonna have to change some shit (i.e. make this place more broadly accessible or like, sell all our data) or the rest of us are going to have to step the FUCK UP and throw them a little bit of coin!

I get that you're sexy as fuck and use firefox and u-block origin and don't have to worry about ads or trackers anyway. me too!! but this ain't about that!! I'm out here shilling out $40/year for ad-free tumblr even though it's functionally useless to me, bc tbh its nice to not have ads telling me to shave my non-existent balls on mobile, but ALSO because it's a way to give a fairly constant stream of revenue to a site where I spend like, WAY more of my time than is probably healthy.
