Hello Friends! Feeling a little feisty so I figured it’s an animal print kind of day. Who are we kidding though...I’m always a little feisty 😜 especially the closer we get to Friday! Here’s your fashion history tidbit for the week... As with several fashion trends, animal prints in fashion date back much further than one would expect. They are documented as being the special ceremonial dress for high-ranking priests in Ancient Egypt during some of the most important burial rituals. Mural paintings typically depict a leopard skin worn as a cape (not promoting use of actual animal skins here...remember its history). Leopard was considered sacred as it was the personification of the ancient sky-Goddess, Mafdet. Animal prints made their way back around in the 18th century, took a little hiatus in the 19th century and came back full force in the 20th century during the Art Deco era. Whatever the period, animal prints are one of the most diverse trends in history having been touted as everything from upscale and trendy to kitschy and cheap. 🐆🦓🦒 Hope you’re all having a fantastically feisty day! Blessings and love! 💕👗👠💋 #fashion #fashionista #fashionhistory #style #stylish #zebraprint #animalprint #blessedandhighlyfavored https://www.instagram.com/p/CE98HspMTVi/?igshid=pt3mt7l0d907
