I must award the highest compliments to the lol surprise reboot for being able to achieve the impossible and actually make me like the tots.
Like I’ve never hated the original tots. By all means they do what they were supposed to do perfectly. They’re toys of babies!
I’m just not a big fan of baby designs taken this literally in general. It’s not something I find appealing. It’s a me thing not a them thing and I had long accepted that it was just going to be part of the brand I don’t engage with! I don’t expect things to change and fit what I like when they’re technically not doing anything wrong.
But they changed anyway. It was time for its first hard reboot after a sorta soft one had failed. And with that naturally came a new style.
And i actually really really like it!
They’re taking a much more stylised and less literal approach. More chibi than literal baby. I can feel about fifty shades of Darkos influence which I’m glad for as he was born for this brand.
Them being just a little less bug eyed does wonders to me. It allows their actual designs to shine more! The proportions also slightly better to me even if I couldn’t pinpoint what there has been adjusted.
I actually want these! Which is something I thought I’d never say!
