It seems as though One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson has taken advantage of Instagram’s newest feature to ban the word “Larry” from his page. For the uninitiated, a section of the 1D fandom likes to imagine … and allege, and basically run wild with the idea that Louis and Harry Styles are in a “secret relationship,” hence their ship name, “Larry.” These shippers analyze literally every picture that the two boys appear in together, looking for “clues” of their love, like, uh, prolonged eye contact. Which doesn’t really mean anything. They’re friends, so…. Louis and Harry have repeatedly denied that there’s any truth to the ship; it seems to be just a fantasy of some 1D fans. On several occasions, Louis has spoken out pretty harshly against the shippers themselves. In an interview, Louis once called the ship “fcking annoying” and has tweeted that it is a “load of bullsht.” It seems as though Louis has reached his limit with the “Larry” comments, as he’s now officially banned the word from his Instagram page. The photo platform has gone to new lengths to reduce hateful comments on users’ pictures, and its “keyword moderation tool” feature allows users to list words that they find offensive or inappropriate, thus banning them from the comment section of their page. Not too long ago, Taylor Swift’s Instagram page was overrun with the snake emoji after all that Kimye drama went down, and many other celebrities are often the target of online bullying. This feature puts the user back in control of the messages being left on his or her page. According to some users, if you try to post “Larry,” on his page, a red triangle will appear and you won’t be able to submit your comment. But several fans have found their way around the ban. Instead of commenting “Larry,” the shippers are now just spelling it differently. Louis’s Instagram page is now filled with comments such as “Larrryyyyyy” and “Larrrrrieeee.” Here’s the thing though: no matter what, it’s never okay to harass people online, even celebrities. And just as we wouldn’t want our love lives to be scrutinized for years on end, celebrities are only human and are bound to react as well. At some point, we need to start listening. Haven’t we learned anything from the Justin Bieber Instagram fiasco? Everyone has their limits, and fans are clearly testing Louis’s.

threelisabeth and i have been talking about babyajumma’s 1d astrology theory and we have come to the devastating conclusion that, when applied to 1d, you get an odd situation: louis tomlinson is a louis sun/louis rising/harry moon, and harry styles is a harry sun/harry rising/louis moon. like, think about it: louis on the outside is so louis, harsh and quick and clever, all armor, all bite, all smirk. but on the inside he’s so tender and kind and weird! and on the outside harry is so harry, you know, like, tender and kind and weird, but that’s used as a kind of mask for the very pointed ambition he houses, the very intense superiority that makes people call him a “perfect pop star.” harry styles is supposed to fill stadiums and he doesn’t – but louis tomlinson does. louis tomlinson is supposed to be able to command a room of people he doesn’t know to do his bidding but he doesn’t – not the way harry can. and so the Thing, you know, the Thing About Them, is that they have the surreal privilege of being able to watch their own deepest emotional landscapes acted out in front of them by someone else! louis gets to see harry being soft and kind and odd!! harry gets to see louis be sharp and bright and powerful!! and that speaks to both of them, like, in the deepest most secret recesses of their hearts, because of course it does.
