When I see fathers with their young children in public, all I can think is that those children are in danger. When they’re laughing and having fun, I feel like it’s all part of some deception to cover up abuse. Nobody’s really safe, nobody’s really happy. Rationally, I know healthy families exist, but every time I see one, I’m consumed with doubt. I wish I could trust the world enough to see the beauty in it.
