i cried so hard when dustin finally broke down. when he stopped steve from basically killing himself with so much anger and despair because he simply couldn't experience that grief again, not so soon, not again. the way dustin naturally attaches himself to older male figures due to his lack of a father figure and how this attachment and forming of bonds has hurt him with eddie's death is so heartbreaking. him doing everything he can to prevent that pain from happening again because he wouldn't know what to do with himself after, god. it's so devastating. im so scared for them once the last episode comes out. "if you die, i die", ok well how about "if you survive, i survive"💔

I know it just came out but I noticed something that no one else has addressed for the new movie Together (2025) and thats the role religion and religious institutions play in toxic and co dependent relationships- religions tend to trap couples with guilt or morality and weaponize soulmateism to keep couples together that might seriously benefit from being apart, even if its a temporary situation. Religion can put pressure on couples that maybe feel like they can't leave relationships and accept the toxic patterns of behavior for the sake of spiritual or destined beliefs.
