With IWT, the story is told through well, an interview. And as such it gives us room for discussions of the characters in the present, for holes to be poked in the story. And it’s overall a solid foundation to cut back to where it’s not being filtered through eyes of someone else or having to contrive knowledge of what is going on outside of one character’s pov.

TVL, however, is being told to us solely from Lestat by himself, in some vague distant future. This is a lot looser and harder to follow, on top of the fact that it makes the other storylines make less sense bc of how far out of Lestat’s perspective they are. Lestat has to cut in and excuse how he’s covering the stories of people he doesn’t directly interact with while they happen.

IWTV has more focus in who is telling the story with Louis and Armand narrating their own pov and having Claudia’s diaries as a reference point to further back it up. How much more confusing would it be if Louis was only talking directly to the audience and we had to keep jumping back and forth to Lestat’s background, to Claudia’s to Armand’s to Daniel’s.
