Blunt force trauma is honestly so underrated in whump. Concussed whumpee after Whumper knocked them out - whumpee getting free and knocking Whumper out! Broken bones and bruises, getting thrown to the floor or into walls.. ough, it's just all so lovely! Treat your whumpee like their bones are a suggestion y'all. It's good for them

Easily one of my favorite Whump tropes is Whumpee being held down by two or more people, resulting in them being forced into witnessing or experiencing the terror of helplessness as they can do nothing but thrash and beg.
good old "finding out how the other army treats their men" except it's through being a spy, not a prisoner.
one spy coming back like "the good news and the bad news is that we're fighting traumatised people who would probably fold at the sight of proper nutrition"
one who can't bring themselves to go back bc life is so good on the other side and the longer they wait the worse it'll be for them. one who 'loses' contact with command after a while.
(good) side being able to recognise the 183828 spies the other side is sending because duh. look at them they have big scared eyes and shake at the sight of a commanding officer. they eat like starving dogs. they can't walk past the infirmary without tearing up a little.

whumpee who goes out looking for fights whenever they feel guilty. who gets themself all banged up and bleeding because they feel like they deserve it. who purposefully picks losing battles, because it helps them get away from the storm of emotions within. because it quietens their mind enough so that they can sleep.
Whumpers who casually manhandle the whumpees, as if doing so is completely natural. They don't even think twice about it. Whumpee is trying to crawl away? Oh, just grab them by the ankle and pull them back. Whumpee's head is pointed in a suspicious direction, as if looking for an escape? Pull them by the hair so their eyes are forced away. Trying to yell for help? Put them in a chokehold, without so much as a change in expression.
Just little things that reinforce the power dynamics and show how helpless Whumpee truly is. For them, it's Hell on Earth. For Whumper, it's Tuesday.
The idea of Whumper and Whumpee having different religious beliefs is very intriguing to me. Like, imagine this:
Religious Whumper reassuring Atheist Whumpee that this is all a part of God's plan. The pain Whumper is putting Whumpee through is a test to make them stronger; to intensify their faith. Whumpee retaliates by stating that if God was really merciful, He wouldn't make people suffer in order to believe. And aren't humans supposed to have free will?
Alternatively, Whumper is an atheist who's mocking Whumpee's faith:
"Where are your precious gods now? How come they haven't saved you yet, hm?"
"If there is a God, He's probably crueler than me. After all, He's letting me do this to you."
Whumpee survives the torture and pain by clinging to their faith and praying; choosing to believe God will save them somehow.
Bonus points if Whumper's goal is to strip Whumpee of their faith or convert them.
Throw a Religious Caretaker into the mix and you have a beautiful recipe for doubt, guilt, and desperation as they struggle to reconcile their faith with what they can see has happened, and as they struggle to atone for the sins they know Whumper will never be brought to justice for.
Caretaking extends beyond Whumpee’s recovery and becomes almost a form of repentance for a Caretaker who needs to prove to themselves their god that they are still virtuous.
Religious Caretaker and Atheist Whumpee who rejects their idea of faith, which is so core to Caretaker’s sense of self that they can’t help but feel Whumpee is rejecting them as a whole. They want to do good for Whumpee, but when Whumpee slanders the concept or origin of the “good” Caretaker abides by, of course it’s going to feel like a refusal of Caretaker’s love and of their effort. But truly, how could Whumpee believe in what Caretaker does after all they’ve been through?
Physically hurt-emotionally stable character with physically stable-emotionally hurt character forming a complicated mutual caretaking relationship
something about the sound of a belt buckle being undone aggressively makes whumpee flinch every time. they never know what it means but they cower all the same and whumper finds that just so beautiful.

Whumpee mid panicked apology for being too much, too needy, too broken, too dependent getting pulled into a hug, Caretakers soft steady voice in their ear reminding them that they cared about them, that it was an honor, that they were worth the time and effort it took to make sure they weren’t hurting, that Caretaker would do it all again without a second thought.
give me more whumpees that cry when they're not feeling well. nausea, pain, fatigue... that shit is overwhelming. there's a bad sensation in your body and you can't get it to go away. you've been stripped of your energy, mobility, and comfort. it's distressing!

Oh, your defiant whumpee is holding their breath to stop you from gagging them? Let them have their fun and wait until they start seeing black spots in their vision for a bit. Maybe even let them try and fight back, give them some time to think they’ve got the upper hand.
Then hit them hard in the diaphragm.
Watch all that struggle disappear. Also, while they’re coughing you can easily slip the gag of your choice in.
