Hi everyone!
As you’ve noticed, given the anons in the inbox, it’s been quieter around here lately and neither of us have been as present as we used to. While there’s a long-winded explanation below, we will just rip the Band-Aid off now: Storm Rising will be closing.
When Storm Rising was created, we had so much muse and so much excitement for what was to come. As some of you may or may not know, the two of us had met in a previous roleplay and created Storm after things went south there. It has been fun for us (along with our past admins) to create a place where other people wanted to write and we’ve enjoyed writing with you over this past year.
In the past few months, our personal life responsibilities have increased and the admin team being smaller has meant that we’ve had to dedicate more time to the administrative duties of the roleplay. This has also meant that we’ve neglected our own characters, which was the entire reason we created the roleplay in the first place – to write.
To be frank, we were pretty happy to continue soldiering on as best we could because we loved our members, storylines, and characters. We made time because it felt worthwhile. But then the nasty anons started - and continued. We have avoided publicizing this, but it was indicated that the individuals sending them were, well, some of you. And that has been a hard pill to swallow – that some could be so hateful and cruel to try to tear us and Storm Rising down when we have dedicated so much of our time and so much of ourselves to making this a good and safe place to roleplay.
It’s hard enough to keep a roleplay going in the best of times – it’s even worse when you realize that some of your members have no qualms about constantly sending cruel messages on anon. It’s definitely made us have muse issues both with the roleplay overall as well as with our characters and at this point, running Storm Rising has become stressful rather than rewarding.
If we have been absent these past few weeks, it is a combination of time restraints and requiring some distance to protect our mental health and well-being.
However, we would like to emphasise that we do believe that the nasty anons were fairly isolated (one or two members - and we have a fair idea of who it was). Generally we have found our members to be a wonderful, friendly, and warm group of writers. We have had some brilliant times writing with all of you and have seen some some exceptionally touching and dramatic storylines play out on our dashboards. We sincerely thank each and every one of you who contributed to making SR the great place that it once was. We hope that our paths will continue to cross in the future.
What this means for you:
You are all welcome to keep playing your characters. They’re yours and you have brought them to life in such a unique way. We will still be around to write in a much more informal environment and the OOC will not be deleted either on Tumblr or on Skype.
We do ask, however, that any non-canon characters not be taken to another roleplay.
We will also be turning anon asks off and closing our submit box.
We wish all of you the best and hope that you will keep in touch.
