the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

I love this facet about it so much; this creativity and love of stories can come from so many walks of life #I've written since middle school and I'm a grown woman with a 401k and Buying a House savings account now and I've traveled abroad #but also; my specific example I'll use of being a grownup writing fic lol:#I finished a 25k teacher/student oneshot on a business trip after a guy I cut off tailgated me honking and cussing for 5 miles #I zoomed past the hotel I was supposed to stay at bc I was afraid he'd confront me and follow me. I got a new hotel several miles away #Speedwalked up to my room with my big fat pita wrap from a Greek place #and finished off a GojoxMegumi oneshot I'd been working on for a few months. Went to bed at 3:30 am. Up at 6am for business stuff

I have to work this whole weekend and I'm really nervous about it. Some things could go wrong at any time, so I won't feel safe and 'done' with it until I walk out the door on Sunday.

As a result of being nervous about work, I am focusing on anything but. And also stress-shopping. I bought like $100 worth of candy + stickers to decorate a new fanfic journal (my first one is almost full!) and moved all the food out of my fridge so I could wipe down the shelves and I am planning a special 'I'm FREEE!' meal for Sunday night and almost every other spare moment I spend writing a Ryan Gosling x Ryan Gosling fanfic.

Plleeeeeeease let this weekend pass by without incident.

#I'm going to make myself a ~luxe~ sandwich with [store bought] onion rings and a locally made candy bar #pesto + prosciutto + tomato confit + feta cheese + arugula + chili oil + basalmic vinegar. On baguette #Please god.#personal #Also. I might just call in.........sick.......on Monday. Otherwise I'd work 12 days in a row which I have done a few times but man it sucks

Imagine Grace defined his name as the elegance definition of grace and Rocky spends years thinking how fucking ironic this clumsy leaky space blobs name is.

Until Grace slips out a sentence along the lines of "could you give me a little grace here" and Rocky immediately points out he used a word wrong so Grace has to explain that yeah, grace means elegance but it can also mean mercy sometimes too.

And Rocky has to suddenly reconcile that the clumsy leaky blob that saved his life twice, that almost certainly doomed himself to come back for him, name is Mercy.
