Indeed, the traditional image of the Queen of Hearts does show a woman remarkably similar to the c. 1500 portrait of Elizabeth in her red dress, holding a white rose (the headdress the Queen of Hearts wears under her crown shown on the card is certainly of the Early Tudor era), but that story may be only a legend…
