AU where the sorting hat just can’t decide
So, in Harry’s first year, the sorting hat couldn’t decide in which house he should be. The sorting hat couldn’t choose the bravery over the ambition, or the dedication over the wit. Harry, not having met the Weasleys or Malfoy, doesn’t really have a preference. After a hour of debating with in which house Potter should be, the sorting hat decided he would spend a total of two months in each house.
He starts in Hufflepuff, where he meets Cedric Diggory who’s in his third year and the enthusiastic Nymphedora Tonks, who’s in her seventh year. His patience and dedication shine, his housemates see past the ‘Harry Potter’ figure the media set up. Don’t let this fool you though, he and Hannah Abbott is were at the infirmary twice a week, probably for the dumb shit he pulled off at Herbology. Tonks also became a mentor to Harry and Cedric just helps him and Hannah out with dumb pranks.
Then comes Ravenclaw, where he meets Luna Lovegood, where he learns to expresses his creativity and shows people his wit, he may be oblivious but he is somewhat intelligent. He and Luna stay up late and sneak around the castle looking for nargals (mainly because they are too lazy to figure out the riddles), he and Luna search for her shoes, test out their theories and stay up till 4am to finish projects and homework.
After that he is a Slytherin, becoming friends with Pansy Parkinson and Draco Malfoy, showing that, while you can wear your pride, you can be nice. He shows them a different world, introduces them to Hannah and Luna, and quite frankly, they get along really well. Harry’s ambition and resourcefullness show, he’s showing off his many talents in a way that he couldn’t before, not that this is bad, it’s rather encouraging. He, Pansy, Draco, Luna and Hannah would be sitting in the astronomy tower, talking till’ deep in the night. Harry discovers how fuckin’ bi he is, and just accepts it.
Then, last but not least, he becomes a Gryffindor. He introduces himself to his dormmates, ofcourse he’s not accepted on the spot, with Ron having trouble with Harry being friends with Malfoy. So, he becomes friends with Neville first, because Neville knows what it’s like, and doesn’t let him feel left out. Neville and Pansy hit it off, and Hermione feels incredibly annoyed by Luna’s beliefs. He somehow ends up in more trouble than in Hufflepuff and bonds with Pomfrey over his similarities with the marauders. Ron FinALLY ACCEPTS HARRY AND STARTS SEEING HIM AS A BROTHER BC RON PROTECC, and Harry basically becomes a Weasley.
And all this happens because Harry James Potter fits perfectly in every house and you cannot tell me otherwise.
