she’d visited a few years prior, careful not to give herself away, had debated setting a fire to distract long enough to release him —— but they’d learned from his last escape. her last carnival of carnage. security was not nearly as lacking as it once had been, and she, unlike him, was not impervious to bullets. so she’d waited… and waited… hoping opportunity would someday present itself, and now it finally had.
lithe arms wrap around his torso almost of their own accord, she knows she should not push her luck, that invading his space in such a way was unwise, but she can’t help herself. she listens to the sound of his breathing , muffled behind his mask , a comfort she’d greatly longed for , and squeezes him just a bit more , if only to ensure he was real , before finally releasing him.
