The GOP Candidatesâ Extreme Anti-Immigrant Positions, In One Chart
Donald Trumpâs anti-immigrant rhetoric has pushed immigration to the forefront of the Republican primary campaign. Since no candidate besides Sen. Lindsey Graham (SC) supports a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants already in the United States, there has been virtually no serious discussion of how to reform the immigration system. Instead, the GOP immigration debate has focused instead on a variety of offensive, unrealistic, and cruel proposals aimed at reducing the number of Latinos living in the U.S.

About the "mud hut" ask, it just floors me when people think that African architecture isn't impressive. Like, have you seen the Great Mosque at Djenne? African mud architecture is extremely refined....

Another Day At The Pool Turns Violent For A Black Family After Police Are Called
Krystal Dixon dropped off her kids and nieces and nephews at the Fairfield, Ohio, pool just as sheâd done many times before. Not a half-hour later, the family was being rushed to the hospital after a violent altercation with local police.
The incident started so small. When one child didnât have swimming trunks, staff demanded the family leave. Even though Dixon, pregnant and 33, said she had a swimsuit for the child, workers at the Fairfield Aquatic Centerâabout 25 miles north of Cincinnatiâsaid it was too late. The mom decided to get the other kids and go. Thatâs when, according to Dixon, a park ranger followed her. When the teens came over to see whatâs going on, the ranger took out handcuffs.
The ranger said theyâd be arrested if they didnât leave. He asks for Dixonâs ID, which she doesnât have on her, then grabs her arm. The children ask the officer to let Dixon go, and the scene escalates.
Thatâs when a 911 call turns what was a minor breach of pool rules into chaos: A white officer using pepper spray on black teenage girls, and one 12-year-oldâDixonâs nieceâbeing slammed against a cop car. Her family says she has a fractured jaw and broken ribs.
âEverythingâs going crazy and theyâre videotaping, trying to make it look like a racist thing and itâs not at all,â the caller said. âThey were breaking our policy and we told them they couldnât be here anymore and itâs really scary and I donât feel safe.â
Although the cops said theyâre just doing their jobs, the video being spread shows differently.
Two adults were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. A 12-year-old girl was charged with assault and resisting arrest, while a 15-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Kill those cops. Thatâs how I truly feel. Fuck a good cop. They could catch these hands, too.

Here is a difference. Black/Brown/Yellow face is used to humiliate. White face is packaged in a bottle, marketed as a key for success and labelled Fair and Lovely. And it sells.
In one quote, this 10-year-old nailed whatâs wrong with police brutalityÂ
Taye Montgomery, the 10-year-old boy allegedly Maced in the face by a police officer while peacefully protesting with his mother on Wednesday evening in Minneapolis, had a powerful response when he spoke to reporters on Thursday.
My heart just broke! đ˘
âAt least I got maced and not shotââŚ. I canâtâŚ
âŚout of the mouths of babesâŚ
This is not the Minneapolis I knew or my friends know.
Weâre lucky. Thatâs it.
Class divides and privilege are so real.
Today marks the 5th anniversary of Aiyanna Stanley-Jonesâ murder. So I always have a hard time with her death and her face. I share bits and pieces of my work with Black girls and obviously, Iâm a Black girl myself and every year, it shakes me a little bit to know that weâre still picking and choosing who we fight for in our resistance movements and often, Black girls get left out of the fight for justice. Aiyanna is a more public and well known example of the attack on Black people through white supremacist police violence. And with the recent news that the officer who murdered her wouldnât be tried in court, we are still reminded that the lives of Black people are disposable. What stings the most, to me as not only someone who works with Black girls, but as a Black woman, is the media black out around Black women and girls lives being taken by police violence the political inertia and apathy around our murders in comparison to our cis-male counterparts. I hope that in remembering Aiyanna, we seriously start to look at the ways in which weâve been failing certain members of our communities with the ways in which we show up and fight for justice on their behalf. đ
âThe present population is exploding with young black men killed almost weekly by police. Whole communities of color are burdened by corrupt municipalities that resemble more the predatory company store of a supposedly bygone era than a responsible, modern local government. Our cities, towns and suburbs cannot become plantations.
