PSA to all my peeps: never give up on your dreams! This week I: **Started my credential program to teach high-school English (Dream #1) **Started as a long-term substitute teacher at a local OC junior high (Dream #2) **Started an online Hawaiian Studies program at UH-KCC (Dreams 3 & 4) I have held every one of these dreams in my heart for years, decades, sometimes wondering if they would ever come to pass. I went through times of total discouragement, thinking I would always be “stuck” in some soul-sucking job or I would never find the time to pursue my dreams. But here I am. Remember: life is not a straight, perfectly linear line to your goals or dreams. It looks more like a loopy scribble, a messy dash of circles that you absentmindedly drew on the phone with your sister. Never let go of what you believe is your vision, never let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do, never let your age, your race, your economic status define you. Take absolute pleasure and delight in proving the naysayers wrong, with each and every goal you accomplish. Be afraid and leap off anyway. Always stay gracious (ty Beyoncé) and always kokua (help) others expecting nothing in return. Your time is coming.
