The new generation of fighters seeing past the violence and setting themselves up to avoid the mistakes of their idols and predecessors, who were consumed by the violence until it ruled their lives (and in some cases ended them) leaving them with nothing but regret and grief and shame, and instead practicing compassion and companionship and having fun even as they fight and therefore setting a better example for whoever may cross paths with them, and maybe with time even healing the old wounds left by the old-school fighters who lived and breathed for the fighting and didn’t see a point to anything else, and escaping from under the looming shadow of that association, and being known as more than just “the best.”
