The news of miss A’s disbandment isn’t a shock. It was inevitable, but the announcement has finally brought closure to both Say A’s and miss A. 

I first listened to miss A when they made their second comeback with “Breathe”, and it’s an understatement to say they changed my life. Although I was only 14 at the time, I was going through a very difficult time in my life. Seeing these girls on stage brought happiness and hope in a time of despair. Since then, I have been following miss A on an incredible journey that I’m truly thankful for. Comeback after comeback, awards after awards, it was a beautiful sight. Although I had the feeling “Only You” would be the group’s last comeback, I still hoped for the possibility of another. As the members slowly started to chose their own career paths, I realized how much miss A had a impact not only on me, but for so many people around the world.

So, all I have to say is Thank You

Thank you Min, for your infectious energy both on and off stage. You trained for 8 years on your own in the hope of becoming a singer. You did.

Thank you Suzy, for showcasing your angelic voice to the world. At such a young age, you debuted with confidence. You wanted to prove to everyone you were more than just “The Nation’s Sweetheart”. You did.

Thank you Fei, for stepping out into the unknown and becoming a singer. You left China, learned a new language and fought hard for your dream. Seeing you gain confidence on stage each year has been wonderful. You wanted to show your family you made the right decision when you left China to join JYP. You did.

Thank you Jia, for becoming a role model and incredible performer. You were never afraid to step up to a challenge, from dying your hair pink for miss A’s debut or making the decision to go solo. You wanted to become a singer in China and be successful. You did.

Thank you miss A, you debuted at a time where K-pop was male dominated, and you stood out among the rest. You showed girls could be both girly and be a tomboy, without choosing either or. You created an entire album about independent women and how to become confident. You wanted to become a girl group that everyone could look up to. You did.
