It was... A quiet day, all things considered.
The decepticons were nowhere to be seen, heard, or even spoken of. Things at the base were slow and calm, no weird plots or pranks, even just plans. All things considered, he should have used his time wisely and caught up on the heaps of data work when eventually, hopefully, the autobot forces sent someone to retrieve them, or work on Omega himself to get the old ship up and running again.
Anything other than... This.
"that's the button to do a ship wide scan," he taps it, barely enough force used to actually push it, more like his holoforms strength, "this one is to do a full flush of its systems, like- like when you sneeze."
Currently, he was using his height as a way to really show Sari around. Almost... A proper, informational tour of their ship.
"I can show you the engine room after the eject pods. It is always good to know the layout of your ship Incase of emergency." Sari babbled and aahed, cooing at anything shiny and bright.
Optimus continued, giving an informational guide towards the ships procedure for the escape pods in case of danger, standing tall and affirmed. Before his demeanor cracked a little...
What the pit is he doing?? He's showing a being who barely yet has the mental capacity to store the sheer amount of knowledge he's trying to show her. And In case she can "use it"?? She's barely taller than the switch that starts this ship. And even if she could use it, it would be too risky, for a contraption like that wasn't made with organic creatures in mind. Especially organic creatures of her age.
But it's... It's not like she wasn't listening.
Not once has she really made a sound other than her usual ones, no screaming, crying.
Just ones like those. Slapping the blankets beneath her, she looks from him back to the board, key half hanging from her mouth, dripping slobber but otherwise unharmed.
"ah... Em!" The key, the all-spark key, slips from where it hung to dangle from its attachment to her night clothes, as she starts to move, crawling around and shuffling through the hills and rolls till she got to bare metal and hit it once again, like she really wanted him to...
"uh, okay," he chuckles, "okay." His dermas tilt higher, as he does continue. At one point he goes from nearly every tiny itty bitty button to the autobot light codes, flashes, blinks, and truly eye straining strobes-- that he of course, doesn't actually show her. He doesn't even need the ship console to truly explain it, not when he has lights of his own he can use. Gently pulling Sari closer while making his way down the hall and telling her about the code for "passing through", flashing his headlights twice, and his siren lights blinking in half the time, while explaining the significance of such a little gesture and how it can keep major misunderstandings from ha-
Optimus locked up, freezing mid-step as another voice fuzzed into his audials. one of his servos moving to cover what was immediately categorized as high priority cargo in his processor, while Bumblebee, simply watched him go through some convoluted "stages of stress" in nearly five clicks.
"What are you doing? Do you know what time it is?" Bumblebee asks, leaning against the door frame of his room, optics still fuzzed up.
"I- I'm not, this-" optimus turns around with Sari still somewhat inside of the little cave his servos created, and Bee just looks between his digits and smiles as Sari becomes his much needed distraction to find an excuse for whatever he was doing at the moment. laughing and giggling and babbling.
"just... showing her around."
"around a ship shes seen the inside of countless times already?"
"n- no, im showing her what she cant see." almost on instinct, either for his sake or hers, the prime starts to gently sway his servo and wait. listening for Sari and her cues.
"like... what, like the top of the supply closets?" the faint gurgle of static from his voicebox clearly indicating he just woke up from a recharge.
And wasn't nearly awake enough to process just what exactly the silence meant.
"no, I'm teaching her about the consoles. Sari likes the buttons a lot, so I took it up on myself too- to teach her." He hopes that sounds better than him saying yes. Yes he was going to show her the top of all the supply closets. They held important things and she needed to know those important things in case of an emergency!
The silence was thick between them as Optimus kept on rocking Sari, the gentle sway being a blessing to keep his servos busy, even with the miniscule movement.
Bumblebee stared at his commander, a bot nearly twice his size, with almost triple the strength and prowess if evidence was to be believed. And he yawned. Glitches flowing out of his vocalizer while his intake stretched open, and his pauldrons rolled back the snaps of wires moving into correct positions barely audible over his obnoxious groan that quickly turned agitated.
"You messed up the schedule... For a how-to of the m"
Optimus was confused. Deal with her? Why would he have to-
"I'm not taking night shift if she's up this late." He mumbles, rubbing his optics before muttering a goodnight, and heading back to his Berth.
Sari stopped moving between his servos, soft breath barely felt against his digits, but clear in how she breathed. She had finally fallen asleep.
He kept her up past bedtime.
